I hate interiors so I usually decline them or over quote so high that the prospect doesn’t want to pay so my experience with them has dramatically decreased over the years.

A co-worker stated his little boy got a hold of blue bic pen and drew some lines on the back of the driver’s seat of their Chevy Tahoe. What can I suggest to him to get the ink out of the leather, that hopefully can be bought locally. Do you think Folex would get that out?

If I can't get locally what would the AG Community recommend? I know that there is an ink kit out there somewhere but I really do not think that he is going to buy a whole kit (he is kinda of a cheap bastardo)

Thanks AG and GOOOOOOD MORNING!!!!!!!

do you have optimum power clean?

I'd try it full strength and be careful not to let it drip down vertical surfaces. Go over it with a damp microfibre a few times afterwards to get rid of any residual cleaner.

you can always try magic eraser but it is abrasive and will remove a bit of the leather coating. Do not press hard or scrub with it b/c you will go through the coating then you are screwed.

i have had great success with OPC. Nothing i have tried OTC worked to clean my stained leather other then OPC

No power clean although I am considering picking up a gallon to try. The magic eraser idea is excellent. It's a 2005 and frankly I dont think he would care if he went through and removed a bit of the leather coating.

Thank you for the feedback.

Not sure why this "cheap bastardo" is willing to pay your "over-quoted" interior prices but I do have a suggestion. Rubbing alcohol takes pen out of leather. Do a test spot first, as always. You can def get it locally, if not in your own house already. Good luck, and please report results.

there is a product called Ink B Gone..I dont know if autogeek carries it

He's just recommending something, not doing the actual work...

AS kimtyson said. Use good old isopropyl alcohol. Of course do a test spot, but, ink is usually readily removed by alcohol.

brother, what they have suggested works great, I have done MANY tattooed interiors (LOL) I used apc plus "dont let it drip down" plus a magic eraser, what color is the leather? Usually on black i go VERY VERY lightly with the eraser, other colors, you can press a bit harder. YOU hate interiors? I do too UNTIL I BOUGHT MY VX5000 STEAMER, I CAN DO A FULL INTERIOR DETAIL AND SHAMPOO CARPETS "well spray apc plus with a bit of folex on heavy stains blot them out with a towel respray and steam away" and dress all interior and recondition leather seats in about 2 hours.. well worth its money...

Hopefully Jr didn't apply much force

I say beat the stuffin out of him.............J/K

I don't think anyone uses this, but i've used krud kutter on leather before. I had a customer that had everything under the sun on their leather. Paint from paintballing, pen, marker etc...
I tried leather cleaners and then tried APC+ in a test spot and it pulled color out. So my last resort was Krud Kutter even though it's not supposed to be used on leather. I sprayed it on a towel and did a test spot and came out perfect. So I continued to use it on the rest of the seats and they looked brand new. Didn't pull out the dye or dry them out. Like I said do a dest spot before you go nuts.

I read about a guy that used fast orange to lessen the white spider webbing cracks in old neglected leather.

I think it dissolves the dye a bit and transfers it to the white areas so they are less noticeable. Obviously, the coating was long gone on this leather and you want to work it gently to move around as little dye as possible, but it's good to know, especially since Carpro and Optimum are currently working on permanent coating products for leather...

One of those things that is crude but effective. Sure worked on me growing up No repeat offenses here! :D

No joke ^

My father brought a new 1970 Galaxy 500 back in 70. He use to load everyone up on Sunday and we would go get ice cream. One Sunday I decided to play with the cigarette lighter. I would let it get fire red then touch the back of the seat with it. He finally smelled something and asked me what the F I was doing back there. He pulled the car over, observed the damage, then cominsed to beating the living crap out of me. I've never done anything like that again :nomore:

Sorry if I wasnt clear. Im on a new medication and it makes me dizzy so sometimes my thoughts are not exactly clear when they go from brain to typing.

He is not paying me, he is just a co-worker looking for advice. What I meant was I hate professionally doing interiors so I decline them or drastically over quote so the client wont want to hire me.

I hope that brings some clarification.

My bad. I should have read more carefully. Good luck with the suggestions. At least you won't be responsible if anything goes wrong.

I'm seasonal here in MN and I don't get many interior requests. People are more attracted to the defect removal that I do and frankly I just don't want to invest the money in a steamer.
