There was an article I was reading where Mike had massaged a product into the paint a few times over many hours to re-condition before he polished.
Maybe an old Continental, some early 70's monster (wish I had one) and it was a mustard colored yellow or brownish-gold. Very period color, big front grill.

Gotta neighbor with a 73 Cadillac that has paint similar condition and would like to apply the ideas.

I can tell you from personal experience that as strange as it sounds using a glaze before compounding, Mike's process just flat works. I've done it on my "survivor" burgundy El Camino that was starting to turn pink, and it's got me a few trophies in judged shows since then:

My first time with the process was 2010. Since then, every spring I do a refresh. I'll clay it, give it a couple overnight soaks with Meg's #7, then buff with either Meguiar's #3 or #80, followd by LSP of choice.

used mikes technique on a 1949 olds 88 with original paint. it sure does work but is a lot , repeat a lot of work.
 
The car next door just sits there so I can drop by anytime.
We got some pretty good weather for about 2 months so should be ok.
Same year as I recall, baby-blue'ish paint.
I could park my car on the hood.
Gonna be fun to use one of Mike's processes that I wouldn't normally see.
Hopefully I can get some good pics.
