Here's Tiger Stripes from a painter....

Tiger Stripes

This is not a slam on my buddy Rick at all because I admire people that are do-it-yourselfers...

Plus, painting is a learned art. That said, these are Tiger Stripes from how he held the spray gun when spraying a metallic paint job. The lines are under the clear so there's nothing that can be done to remove them except to repaint.

One of my detailing boot camp students did this restoration and I don't know for sure if these are tiger stripes from buffing and if they are it doesn't mean he did them, they could have been inflicted by someone before him and he just cleared up what's left of the paint to reveal them.

This is original single stage metallic paint.

WOW ! That's crazy. Never knew you could do that with polishing single stage paint or a bad spray from a painter. Great to be able to learn something new.

Thanks Mike, I put up the Rupes last night and pulled out the Griots 6" for this car. I used a light polish pad with Sonax 4/6, but I also have some M205 that I think would also work really well in carrying the Megs theme throughout. My main goal tonight is to get to a point of being ready for wax so that I can work on the interior and the exterior metal work. The brushed side pieces are going to take a little experimenting.

Progress pics from tonight.

This is after removing the #7. It did just as Mike said, brought the paint back up.

Here are some more with polishing. I found that M205 with a medium polish pad got into a good bit of the slight swirling and brought the shine out and then following that with a final polish pad allowed the shine to come out even more. There are still deeper scratches and thin areas, so I am playing it safe and just gloss enhancing.

Thin area at trunk lid.

Enjoy. Stay tuned for more.

Thanks Mike, I contacted the owner last night and ask if he or his business partner could stop by and let me show them the limits of the paint. I still think it will be a dramatic change.

More pics to come.

Here are more pics and the finals. The top really gave my some trouble. Had to actually go back and put more #7 on it, but it came out great. You can see in the pic, the line of staining.

First part of finals

Here are the last of the pics. Enjoy!

So there we go. I could have probably spent more time, but I told the client approximately 20 hours and they agreed. I did call them in earlier to show them the limit of the paint.
