One Panel Per Day?

Are you using a dedicated trim sealant/protector...or OCW/OOS?

I didn't get that far. Right now it's unprotected.

I did not tape off the front fender trim because a post suggesting that applying poli-seal to trim before opti-seal was a good idea. It isn't. At least not with a DA. It left the trim a little whitish. I cleaned it off with power clean and it was back to normal.

I did wipe some opti-seal on some isolated trim pieces (cowl, rear diffuser) to see how it looked. I am happy to report that the intial appearance is just as one would hope: SLIGHTLY darker in appearance (almost not noticable), matte, and even. You wouldn't know it was there if I didn't tell you. We are expecting rain today too so I will see how it really performs.

I would kind of like to be able to add some "trim darkener" if possible to keep blacks black on those big plastic wheel arches, but if the opti-seal merely maintains and enhances the OEM look, I might just use it and nothing else. I also understand that the opti-seal will migrate below whatever else I put on there anyway so it would just require reapplication of the "trim darkener" at some point anyway. If I can get away with opti-seal and OCW on the whole vehicle, that'd be easy and awesome.

OCW is perfect for this.

If the info is not from an Opti Fanatic, say like, Perfections or other Optimumforums.org member, then I disregard similar info

Excellent choice

Not exactly true...for the most part, Optimum's polymers cross link and migrate with products of the line...but not necessarily with all polymers of various product lines. There is a distinction.

No bout a dout it. Anytime you have any questions on OCC's products, drop Chris, Perfections, or any Optimum fanatic a pm.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like the trim gets an opti-clean, opti-seal, and OCW treatment next time I have 10 minutes.

Do a test first.
Coated/painted metal gets OOS.
Plastics get OCW.
I personally choose these based on costs, OCW is much cheaper. OOS leaves a wetter appearance...but this is all from personal perspectives, and may not be factual.

Makes sense?

Is it feasible or even a good idea to simply tackle a car one panel at a time?

Thanks!
Matt
I do it all the time and it works out fine. Back in the "Blue Coral" days it was the only way to go.

To the OP, mate I empathise with the lack of time. I work full time and have a girlfriend that I really only get to spend time with on the weekends. As I'm sure you can imagine, saying "Sorry darling I can't see you on one of the two days we get to spend together because I need to detail my car".
I've been doing one panel a WEEK. I get to wash my car once a week or once a fortnight and when I do, I get the DA out and do one panel at a time. It's really frustrating but what can you do?

I've been lucky actually.

I have been doing one layer at a time. The newer of the dailies is really mostly done and this weekend will probably get a layer of Collinite 476 on the paint and some Gtechniq G1 on the glass.

Then I can focus on the harder projects.

The worst part is now that it's below freezing, all the supplies get to make a round trip from the basement to the work area.
