One-Step Hologram Removal and DONE!

Recently one of my co-workers purchased a used Dodge Avenger and I'm sad to say the place where he bought it buffed it out.

For the life of me I don't understand how anyone can stand back and look at this type of atrocious work and then think to themselves...

Yes... this looks good!

:dunno:

Be that as it may, last night while buffing out this old 2-door Chevy we thought we would put the new Wolfgang Uber All-In-One to the test to see if we could remove the holograms and restore an acceptable finish.

In other words, we wanted to see if by doing only ONE STEP we could,

1. Remove the holograms - Holograms are the swirl pattern inflicted by the misuse of a rotary buffer.

2. Restore gloss and clarity to the clearcoat

3. Leave the paint sealed and protected

Holograms - The curse of the detailing industry - Especially new and used car dealerships.

The ugly looking stripe pattern you see in the paint are holograms.

This dully, hazy scratch pattern is the result of someone that either doesn't know what they are doing or someone working for someone that has not provided them with the right products, pads and education to do the job right.

Here's a little camera flash to really light up the holograms...

If you do a lot of production detailing, that is you're doing one "Paint Care Step" besides the normal washing, drying and claying if needed, then here's a all-in-one product that has enough bite to remove serious holograms when used with a foam polishing pad but without leaving any micro-marring which can be common to a lot of one-step cleaner/waxes and AIO's.

Thanks Travis for trusting us with your Dodge Avenger!

Just to note....

We didn't leave Travis hanging in the wind... the guys from this thread,

2002 SS Camaro Extreme Makeover! - Pictures & Comments

Joined in and we buffed out the entire car for Travis and as soon as I get the time I'll add the pictures of the guys in action!

And when the sun pokes his head back out I'll get some sun shots...

Thank you for this thread. I bought the Wolfgang AIO a couple days ago. I am excited to try it out. I also bought the Wolfgang Trim and seal and IMO one of the best exterior trim products. I would assume the AIO is a great product as it is a Wolfgang Brand. The Complete Guide to a Show Car Shine is a good read too!

I don't think that thought ever passes through their minds--I think it's more like "I ran the buffer over the car like I'm sposed to...and it looks like it always does after I do that". But that's OK Mike...you made it look great!

Oh Mylanta! That is seriously wicked. As much as I love D151 when I use it, I'm not sure it can do that. That is sick!

Amazing and yeah on all your comments Mike. Being the owner of three Rupes, 15,12,75 all purchased at AG I'd like to see the next demo of UBER AIO done with a Rupes machine and Rupes pad. Pretty please :props:

Very good showdown, it's nitid how much clarity Uber AIO added to the paint and how well it removed holograms (looking from here, 100% removal).

It's exciting to see AIOs evolution, and I'd be sure to try some on my next order. Uber AIO definitively has it's place on every detailer's shelf.

Again, thanks for reviewing the product,

Kind Regards.

Wow, I am pretty impressed with the amount of turnaround this new Wolfgang AIO is providing. All the pictures I have seen look like there was a two step accomplished but only Über AIO is doing the work.

Looks like a new AIO contender is on a fast track to the top of the hill. Nice work PBMG.

Nice work Mike. I can't believe how well the AIO performed, and with a white pad too! This really seems like a wonderful product for production work. A majority of my customers would be more than satisfied with those results.

I tell you what... there's a bigger market for production work than show car work, it's just a numbers and demographics thing...

The key thing with one-steps is to get this types of results without also leaving DA Trails in the paint. A more aggressive pad would have removed more defects but the more aggressive the pad you use with ANY one-step product the more you risk leaving DA Trails.

The key to doing production work doesn't start with the product, it starts with setting the correct expectations for your customer. Don't promise to remove all the swirls and scratches when doing production work.

That's what this article is albout....

Nice! My dealer gave me a free set of holograms with a PDR they did so this would be nice. How would this product work with a PC?

Didn't have time last week to get all the pictures up from this project but just to get these off my camera's memory stick and then stick a fork in this thread and call it done.... here's the rest....

Turned out great. Definitely good product for production work.
Could hardly believe that it worked as well as it did.

Very good results from an AIO. I purchased the Uber AIO last week when it was available. Looking forward to sharing my review of this product.

Another awesome product from AG!!
Great work time, no dusting and great results......who could ask for better than that!!

Wow that is pretty impressive from a one step product!

Nice picture Mike!

Excellent results Mike!
If I get suckered in to do more cars for people I will definitely look into buying this product :xyxthumbs:

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I had this for my client's car this weekend.

How was the product when you wiped it off? Was it easy or hard to remove?

Just wondering. I have a quart I've been waiting to try.

Mike,
When you get some time it would be interesting to see which category you place this AIO in. I know you said at least category #2 and maybe even category #3. When you get time.

Of course a test spot should tell me everything I need to know, but I'm wanting to organize and label my AIO products as to what fits what categories that way I can make a little faster decision of what may work on a given paint condition.
