Hey guys, I'm just about ready to start on my paint correction project. This will be my first time using a DA to polish. First off I'll be polishing my BLACK 2013 toyota tacoma. It has some pretty bad water spots, light to moderate swirls, and a few RIDS. I'm not going for 100% correction since it is my daily driver. Just want to improve the paint work as much as possible through a one step polish. Here's what my process will be... Lmk what u guys think.. suggestions and advice welcomed.
WASH AND DRY
Gilmour foam gun with CG Mr.pink
2 bucket wash with CG Mr.pink
Quick dry with waffle weave microfiber
DECONTAMINATION
Iron X
Nanoskin speed prep sponge to clay with megs quick detailer for lube
POLISHING
Rupes 15 with rupes yellow polishing pad
Sonax perfect finish
LSP
2 coats of collinite 845 (paint/glass)

I'll be using CG microfiber towels to Buff off all the polish and wax residue as well. Tires and trim will be dressed with optimum optibond. I'm a little nervous considering this will be my first time using a machine. But I've done quite a bit of research and watched a lot of videos. Hopefully all goes well. Wish me luck. I'll need it. Lol. I will post pics when completed. Thanks guys!

My question is why after all of those steps are you stuck on a one step process for polishing? You are already gonna invest a lot of time, why not do it right!

Sounds like a good plan of attack though only thing ill say is do a test spot, take your time, and the whole job doesn't have to be done in a day or two you can spread it out though be sure if you do to quick detail or waterless wash the section you will do that given day....good luck, and happy detailing

I've thought about it but I wanna try the least aggressive method first. Also I think my paint is pretty soft. I got swirl marks out by hand using megs UP. But if my expectations are not met by this one step polish I will consider getting more aggressive.

Thanks man. I definitely will do a test spot. Appreciate the advice.

Agreed, if you can spread it out over four or so days, do it! Polishing is a ton of work! :buffing:

Sooooo true, I'm in the middle of a 2 step and it is taking forever...I almost wish I would have done a 1 step...

I just did a 1 step on thus 2000 Tacoma took me about 5 hours using my Flex 3401 with the Tufbuff black wool pads amd FG-400 came out looking great
