Don't know about everyone else...but:
For 1-Step polishing I must use a DA,
exclusively, in order for me to avoid
those dreaded Rotary induced holograms.

You did mean to eliminate rather than prevent?
Depends on the car, my truck's paint is so hard, it was impossible to polish out after wet sanding, but the slightest thing will cause a swirl. Strangely enough, my go to one step polish for it has been either dodo juice supernatural or 3m ultrafine on a light cut pad on a rotary. If I go the da route, then I have to up the aggressiveness of the polish. I chose the rotary and these polishes because they are the longest working ones I own and I like having that control.
No, to prevent holograms/swirls.
For what it's worth though, I one step most typical cars with rather fg400 on a soft finishing pad or 205 on either a soft finishing pad or light cut pad. Just try a test spot with different tools and pads and products. There is some to be gained if you have access to an infinate amount of options, but I prefer to keep it as simple as possible while being realistically effective.

When you say,
One step
Dou you mean one polishing step PLUS sealing the paint with a coat of wax or a synthetic paint sealant?
Or
Using a one-step cleaner/wax?
Just wanted to clarify. Regardless, for either of the above if I wanted to avoid the risk and hassles of hollograms I'd use some type of orbital polisher.
