I'm just getting into using FG400 and wanted to see how people were using the product, as it seems to be very powerful and still finish well. I've tried it with the CarPro denim and velvet pads, Megs MF pad, Megs polishing pad on rotary, an LC orange (not the HT) on rotary and am amazed with what it can achieve and how well it breaks down. I even used it with the velvet pads on my dark blue Suburban hood without following it with anything and you can barely even see the holograms in full sun.
What was cool about what you did was follow it with Menzerna 4500, as I was wondering how that combo would work. I've always wanted to be able to go straight to 4500 without having to clear up the compounding haze first, taking an extra couple hours to complete a vehicle.
Nice work!
One question I forgot- what speed do you use with 4500? How much pressure? How many passes? I tend to finish with a rotary, 4500 and an LC blue and have a process down with that, but want to be able to get similar results with the DA. Whenever I A-B my rotary results with anything I do on the DA with any product or pad, the rotary almost always wins so I go that route. On rare occasions, I use Sonax Perfect Finish with whatever pad works or Menzerna 4000 and maybe an LC crimson, but that's only if I can't finish hologram-free with the rotary.
Thanks!
For this car, since I was jumping straight to SF4500 after compounding, I wanted a little more cut than I usually hope for with the 4500, so I used a black pad rather than my typical crimson pad. I started at a speed of 5ish w/ moderate/light pressure and did 4-5 passes, and then finished with speed 3 and very light pressure and did a couple of passes.
