ONR added to bucket wash?

The upside to using ONR with a shampoo wash solution is the fact that it will soften the wash solution and let you get dirt off easier but also protect your car against wash swirls very well. The other bonus is the fact that any grit yiu pick up with a wash mitt will come off much easier.

But not necessarily a huge boost in cleaning power eh? The whole reason I'm thinking about this is because I washed a vehicle that I'm guessing from the looks and feel of it hadn't been washed since the last time I detailed it in Feb... It was a PITA to wash. Not the worst ever, but not ideal.

So now I'm wondering what I can do to help in these situations. Sometimes I do a pre soak with D114, but I forgot to do so. I've also heard of adding APC concentrate to the bucket, but I'm not sure if I feel completely comfortable doing that. Do any of you guys add APC full strength to a bucket wash? Noticable results?

On really dirty cars I will spray them down with APC 4:1 and let dwell for a couple minutes. This is helpful on bumpers and mirrors that are caked with bugs, windshield and roof by windshield, wheels and wheel wells, and lower rocker panels. Then I pressure wash and 2 bucket wash.

The extra lubricity and suds from softening water with ONR makes sense. What I'm struggling with is how having softer water in the buckets will help with water spotting when drying as suggested in an earlier post. Aren't you rinsing off the suds with the hard water coming out of the hose nozzle, leaving the car wet with hard water?

Yes, you are. Unless you've invested in a water softening system. But the car wash soap will clean better being mixed with soft water.

If you just need more lubricity you could just pour an ounce of ONR and an ounce of car soap in a 36 oz bottle and fill with water. Then spray on each panel while washing
