I just spend the past oh i dunno, hour and a half reading tons of threads about ONR and even watching a bunch of youtube videos.

I just dont get it. It defies logic as far as properly removing dirt without marring the paint.

At first I thought ONR mean you spray the stuff on and wipe it off. Done. Come to find out you still "wash" with soapy water and a mitt.

Heres where I have issues with this...

The possibility of grabbing dirt from an untreated area and wiping it onto paint is just too great from what Ive seen.

Second, slimy hocus pocus magic potion aside, doesnt a good auto soap "grab" dirt and make it easier to wash off?

I just dont see why you wouldnt want to give a good rinse to make sure you got all the dirt off instead of smearing it around with a cloth.

Im not seeing the time savings, unless you count the 1.5 minutes you arnt rinsing the car with the hose after the wash. Environmental impact of less water? Sure I see that but Im just not feeling this.

Please chime in with your experience and thoughts. And remember; I know this is a popular product but keep your input on the facts and dont resort to personal attacks and assumptions about my detailing experience and abilities because I havnt drank the ONR kool-ade.

I am a fan of the company and their products. Im just questioning the benefit from regular two bucket washing. I dont see the difference outside of not doing a final rinse.
 
More then anything it comes down to the situation, space, environment, and tools a detailer has available. The ONR is one of those tools.
 
It's not meant for a lot of dirt. Any time there is considerable build up you should use other means...otherwise I swear by it.
 
First off ONR is nothing like soap! It is a very lubrous non sudsing high gloss elixir! I still like to wash wheels traditionally and rinse off the heavy dust before rinseless. Shane is right, try it!! Words cant describe how good it is! I have a hose and buckets and still prefer ONR because it is less likely to mar paint than a car wash IME. But again Im gonna put the hose on my vehicles first because I can. Hope this helps!
 
Just try it once and you'll realize why it's so loved. Is there anyone willing to send a sample to Kris? I would send him a sample but the shipping half way around the world is just too expensive
 
When you live in an apartment without access to a hose like I do, rinseless washes (and also waterless washes) make life easier. I can just fill my buckets, take them outside, and wash my cars right in the parking lot. I would assume it works just as well for mobile detailers.
 
for my car an ONR wash takes ~40mins. a 2bucket hose pipe takes an hour or longer. 7mins to spray down, suds and another 7-10mins to rinse. I get water all over my legs and shoes, the hose pipe gets kinks, or stuck under the wheels. It drips from crevasses after I dry it. If I use a electric blower, its one more thing to bring out, unwind cord, strain my back using it, then wind the cord back up.

ONR has made washing cars easy. Even daily drivers that are a month dirty can I can wash in an hour or so. 1 bucket, and wipe down, flip over, rinse/ring out with grit guard and go over again two sides. dry, and move on. I can do ONR in full sun, but its faster to do in shade. ONR even cleans brake dust, quite well I might add.

At first I though ONR was a gimmick using one science word, "emulsify" but after months and reading more and more. I bought a gallon and I am so glad I bought a gallon. I wash 3-5cars a week and Its so much more enjoyable than the old hose pipe and two buckets. pressure sprayer(to pre spray), 1 bucket+grit guard and a sponge is golden.

ONR is car washing made easy. not to mention its a great on brake dust, interior cleaner, clay bar lube, and quick detail. It makes a so-so glass cleaner(will leave streaks, but is good to add with ipa/water 1:1.) I really want more versitle products. I now expect more when paying for a product.
 
I almost always wash traditional but even then I always add an ounce of ONR to my regular wash. Love that magic elixir!
 
Give it a shot and you'll see that it works. The lubricity of the ONR surpasses almost everything I've used so far aside from DG 902. And if you keep your car reasonably clean all the time like most of us autogeeks, the ONR truly does everything it says.

I use ONR for maintenance washes and am very satisfied with its performance. My perfectly polished paint has not gotten a swirl or scratch on it in 3 months of using ONR 2x a week.

Ah see thats more like what I was thinking in regards to still using a hose. Didnt know it wasnt a sudsing solution. good to know.

Thats a good point too. Didnt think of that.
 
I still use the coin wash, or any high pressure spray automatic wash, before I ONR if the car is extremely dirty in the winter. This will get most of the salt off and any large debri. Plus, it gets the undercarriage where salt is most harmful.
 
More benefits of ONR:

- In some locales water is on a water meter, so the less water you use the lower your bill is. Using ONR compared to a normal wash saves money this way.

- In the summer during a drought the local government may put a restriction on the amount of water each person is allowed to use, with some even forbidding washing your car. Since ONR only requires 2 gallons you can wash your car during a drought as well.

- During winter in northern climates having a hose hooked up outside simply isn't possible because water will freeze inside of it and create all sorts of problems. With ONR you can fill a bucket with warm water inside the house and use it to wash sand and salt off your car.

Same here. If the car only has light dust from being driven in the summer I may ONR my car as it does save time. In the winter I will always pressure wash it down at the coin opp before I use it though.

I still prefer a traditional wash and feel it cleans noticeably better, but for those who can't, ONR is a great alternative.
 
For me its not so much of a step down from a 2 bucket wash in cleaning/safety but a step up from using a QD to remove the dust. I still do a 2 bucket bucket wash twice a month on average. I can ONR my car in 20-25 minutes and that is taking my time to do it. Its another tool available to me that I will not be without again.
 
i use DP RWG in between washes if i feel i need to. I still wash my car normally. but it does work well. I actually like how the surface feels after the DP RWG more so then my Auto Shampoo.
 
ONR isn't designed to replace a traditional wash. It is more for those situations when a traditional wash won't work or isn't allowed. Water restrictions, no access to a spigot, water reclaimation restrictions, etc. Have you ever tried to wash your car with a hose and bucket when it is -20 degrees? Its just not going to happen. However, pull the car into the heated garage, break out the ONR and viola, a clean car. Like its been said, its another tool and another option.
