ONR one bucket or two

About how many mf towels and rinseless solution do you use on a middle sized car with a one bucket wash?
And about how much rinseless solution when useing 2bm?
What kind of wash media do you prefer when rinseless wash with 2bm?

You see we in Sweden is not used to either waterless wash or rinseless wash the cars. But the last 2 summers there were water restrictions to wash cars and fill pools and such of things that takes alot of water to do. So I would learn and ask about this methods. Have seen the different kind of techniques to do them and what mf towels to use.

I tend to follow McKee's directions, 2 gallons water - 1 oz N-914.

Start out with 4 towels. If need more, just add as needed. I've never gone more than 6 towels at the most for one car.

As you use the 1 bucket, the rinse-less more and more, you'll eventually will find your sweet spot.

For me---2 gal, 1 oz and anywhere from 4 to 6 towels. AND, I always have some rinse-less left over!

I use ONR and N-914. Actually I think I've used the majority of Rinseless washes and waterless washes on the market, the common ones anyways. I think the trick to any rinseless wash is a good pre-soak. I'll soak the whole car to break apart some stuff and then re-soak each panel before I wash it. I've used everything form regular washmitts, to the blue sponge, to MF towels. As for scratching with ONR, I've used ONR while the wash bucket was a bit brown but when that happens, I have a cigarette and let the dirt soak down to the bottom again.

Thanks Tom!

Have someone experience with rinseless wash with carpro Ech2o in colder temps as above 32F? And if any problems with drying it or streaking?

When I order from AGO I will certainly have some McKees 37 N-914. The one thing I worried about is to the shipping cost when buying a gallon of it and some more products I can't get hold of here in Sweden. Then I have to think about the taxes and customs fee also added to the total costs.

Maybe I would start to import it myself and distribution for it LOL It's rare you see anything bad about it and they have a solid line of products McKees 37. And there is some other brands that would do fine here also in Scandinavia.

I've used the bucket full of towels method for about a year or so....I decided to just try the 1 bucket with ONR and the Big Red Sponge and I won't go back. For me, the constant folding and re-folding of the towels was just too much of a nuisance. The sponge is so easy to ring out...and along with a heavy pre-soak before the wash, scratching the paint is really a non issue. Plus...I don't have a bunch of dirty towels at the end. Drying is a breeze with there spray wax or Opti-seal.

I am in the same boat and your comments are going to make me try the BRS for rinseless. I have read all the reviews and I think I am going to give it a go. With the amount of rinseless washes I have been doing the amount of towels I go through it beginning to get annoying.

One "trick" is to leave the BRS in the ONR all the time. No need to take it out as the ONR can be used many times. Bucket with gamma seal and grit guard is perfect.

Try it...the BRS used to be like $25...it's now $19 I think. Plus you can wait until there's a sale and get it even cheaper. I think I've used it maybe 60 or 70 washes so far, and it hasn't torn or shown any signs of falling apart. It's definitely a high quality foam.

I like my BRS enough that I bought an extra one during one the recent sales to make sure I have one in case mine fails. Good stuff.

I’ve used ech20 in super cold temps. As far as streaking is concerned, IME it streaks more than ONR and n914, but nothing that a quick final wipe down won’t easily take care of.

Well....one bucket for the GD method and 2 buckets if your using a grout sponge. May I suggest the Aqua sponge for the 2BM!

If you're using onr, you don't need a second one. Just rub it on the grit guard and squeeze it inside the wash bucket.

Do you leave it sitting until the next wash with the same just used rinseless solution? Or do you mix up a fresh bucket to leave it sitting in?

Leave it in the same used solution. ONR will drop the dirt to the bottom of the bucket. You can reuse the same solution over and over until its gone or it gets really nasty (road film).
The grit guard keeps the sponge off the bottom.

ONR doesn't have the cleaning power of D114 but it is perfect for maintenance washes.

As far as the way it drops dirt to the bottom of the bucket, would you say D114 is capable of doing the same? Or does ONR have its own unique way of doing that?

IMO there is something different about ONR because of the way it stains the wash media (QEW used to do this, too). Whether that helps with the...the...there's a technical term for making the dirt fall to the bottom of the bucket that I'm blanking on...

I personally like to use a rinse bucket with rinseless wash unless the car is really clean, I just can't put my wash media into that filthy water and keep putting it back on the car...I also think it interferes with being able to tell if you've washed thoroughly...which you can tell by if you get any dirt on your drying towel, if your solution is filthy, then the towel gets dirty (at least that's the way it seems to me). When I use a rinse bucket I put some RW in the rinse bucket at about a quarter of the normal concentration, just to reduce any possible dilution of the wash bucket.

Is ONR altering other lsp when used over time?

I understand that ONR works in synergy with Optimums different lsp. But have heard different opinions when useing it as water softener in wash and rinse buckets. And also the glossenhancer and maybe polymers left behind has a negative impact to other brands lsp technologys. Say I have cquk on the car and use only ONR to waterless wash or rinseless wash it with. Have anyone noticed some effects to it? Or and other coatings for that matter.

The polymers in onr do not last at all. The polymers are only there for dirt release and to encapsulate dirt, that's it. In fact before optimum came out with their paint prep, they recommended to just wipe off polish residue with ipa or an onr wipe down because the solvents in glosscoat will remove the polymers from the onr.

Onr is mostly cleaning agents in conjunction with the polymers that encapsulate dirt for lubrication. It's also why it's not a super slick feeling solution after you've buffed.
