Yes, I can see now that both the front & back bumpers are plastic, and the lower side panels are too (i.e., the one I melted).

I've taped off around both front & back bumpers and am going to polish with the PE8 again at slow speed and less pressure, use a finishing pad (not a polishing pad), and with fewer passes. I'm also not going to create an overlap area immediately but move to the opposite side so each section can cool down.

If I *&#^ this up, I will be selling a lightly used PE8 kit later today… :)
 
I think I may tack my hands with an extra application of my favorite Grip Enhancer before I use my new PE8. :>)
 
Sorry to hear about your situation, but I guess this is the experience part of it all.. better it be your car than a customers. Can I dare to say you had the pad spinning (down) into the edge rather than up?, I've learn to tape ALL edges I would put the tape in the middle of the gap and tape across the whole thing to protect from the polisher grabbing the edge...

I hope it don't cost much to get that fixed and your car back to perfect :)
