For cleaning the LC CCS and flat pads, would you guys suggest I continue using Dawn to clean them or swap to some ratio of the OPC that's showing up in my box on Thursday? Or some combo? Sometimes it seems like Dawn doesn't want to clean very well and then doesn't want to rinse out.

I use OPC for the reasons you mention. Dawn does not rinse out as well. It usually works but OPC especially when you let it soak can really clean out a pad.

As much as I love OPC I try not to clean my pads with it.

I like Megs Super Degreaser for cleaning pads - works every bit as good for a fraction of the cost.

Optimum Power Clean is a much stronger than Dawn dish liquid and one of the reasons it cleans to well.

When pre-soaking Microfiber towels I use an ounce of Dawn and 4 ounces of Optimum Power Clean in 3 gallons of warm water. This really breaks down the heavy stuff making them ready for the washer...:props:

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I need to switch to OPC for pad cleaning. (yeah yeah I'm being too cheap to buy dedicated pad cleaner product) I wonder if I'd be able to get carnauba out of a pad with it? That was one I always had a problem with when using Dawn. It just would not remove it.

But the beauty of Optimum Power Clean is it's one of the most versatile all purpose cleaners out there and IT WORKS!!

Got some DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator and some GG Pad Cleaner so I'll find out if they work just as good as OPC for thos that don't wanna use a APC to clean out pads.

Kind of an old one here, but how does Meg's APC compare to OPC?

Meg's has 2 APC's, APC and APC+ (plus the Super Degreaser). I only have the APC, IMO it foams quite a bit more than OPC.

Sorry, should have been clear. I have a gallon of APC+ in the basement I'm referring to.

IIRC the APC is more of a carpet cleaner, while APC+ is more general purpose, and foams less--but I can't help you really in how it compares with OPC other than that it's half the price.

I've been doing my machine, hand pads and MF's lately with Oxiclean. I mix up a bucket at the recommended pre-soak strength and let 'em soak anywhere from a few hours to overnight. Follow with a light scrub with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly. This stuff even gets 845 IW out of a yellow hand pad and 845 just laughs at Dawn. I've seen no ill effects yet even on my best MF cloths.

Dawn doesn't rinse well. OPC is better for pads. APC is very versatile and cost effective, but OPC is a better wheel cleaner and degreaser. For interior OPC @ 8:1 and APC @ 10:1 is about the same performance wise, but I find APC smell to sometimes irritate breathing. OPC has a neutral smell and doesn't irritate lungs.

I usually pre-soak pads in CG citrus wash (I save the leftover wash solution) then later clean them by hand with megs APC at 4:1

I kinda like the oxiclean idea if it's strong enough to get 845 out of a pad

I soak mine in APC+. No way I'd use OPC. While it works great, the cost is just to high.

Wow, I tried 4oz OPC no dawn in 3 gallons for soaking/cleaning the pads the other night. I think it worked pretty well to clean them but it was just about as painful as Dawn to rinse out. Though I'm not sure if I was still seeing OPC or leftover WG TSR that didn't want to fully come out.

XMT pad cleaner is business give 2-3 sprays let sit irritate and rinse out pads like new every time wax pads may need to be cleaned twice
