Operation Road Warrior/It’s Hammered!

Client brought me his ‘road warrior’ to clean up and get some ‘protection’ on it. It lives outside 24/7 and has seen better days. This vehicle is by far the worst paint condition I have had in to date. I was going to say it was in the top 3, but this one takes the cake.

Heavy swirling on every panel, the hood and leading edge of the roof were in horrendous condition. HEAVY defects scratching, gouging, etc were all over these panels with a little bit of clear failure beginning on the edges. The heaviest scratching was all in one direction (forward/backward in straight lines) over these panels as if it were abraded by something—I thought car wash, but it was only on these panels, and the rest of the roof was OK; perhaps someone used something in an attempt to clean it, or they used it to build sandcastles on…I don’t know! LOL

The heaviest/biggest guns in my arsenal cleaned it up a bit, but still would not correct. I tried a test spot with some sanding…still not avail. The hood is fiberglass, and some of the scratches were indented/gouges, but come on! It cleaned up and glossed up well, but the majority of the heavy stuff is still there.

The ‘details’:

Adam’s wheel cleaner.
Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner.
McKee’s37 Si02 hydro blue to seal wheels.
Adam’s strip wash.

^^^LOL!!! I'll PM you those stats! HAHA.

Thank you! It was so trashed!

Always fantastic Scott. So far, most of the vehicles I have been seeing cc failure on are all GM black less than 15 years old. i also believe no one should ever buy GM black. They have no clue how to care for it, It's crappy paint, I charge through the nose to correct it. Most think it's too expensive, and those who don't won't take care of it anyway

Are all of those hoods fiberglass?

You must have been paid well or drunk when you took this job.:wowwow:

LOL Rs!!!

Billy, they are glass hoods. And thank you!

I'm sure the owner was more than pleased. Nice workout!

Wow..wow..wow...

Am I reading this right? Fast correcting cream and wool pads?

Tom

Nice work. Do you have them sign off about the preexisting clear coat failure so it doesn't come back to you?

Thanks all! Appreciate the comments!!

Tommy: That was the last step. FCC and orange pads. Scholls liquid sandpaper first!!!

Snoop: You betcha. Always. Very important to do that initial walk around inspection while they are there/getting a quote.

Holy Good Lord, Scotty!!!!

You are truly the Egyptian Magician!! :urtheman:

Dang that's solid work! Can you share how long how long that took? As an enthusiast I would like to know so I can gauge how far I am behind.

Wow! That Tahoe was hammered. Great job bringing this beast back to life.
