Opinions on Website

Hi sewatthedetails,

I enjoyed browsing your site, & if in the area & looking for a service, you would be in the running for my biz.

Thinking like most & this year I will spiff up the old car...

Your photo gallery, is long I found myself looking closely for awhile then, scrolling fast through the rest.

At the bottom of the photo gallery "pricing" button when clicked, does not give pricing details. Which are found elsewhere.

"Welcome to you packages" seems awkward, do you mean "Welcome to your packages?"

This is small point, but I thought about it. Your photo gallery, has pictures showing loose change, I wondered about that, how about the after picture, a plastic baggie with the change in it. Or no pictures with change in it.

Any trade certificates, to boast about? Are you bonded or insured would be good to mention.

Consider, Your packages or Your packages include ..., or Packages Include

I also a little confused you have:

"Welcome to you packages" and "You come to us packages"

I really liked the slide show!

Great touch adding your picture, now I know who to expect.

I read it as "you come to us" and "we come to you", not welcome to you.

I'm personally not a web guy I have a few friends that have shops,we don't use web,to get some business, good luck

You need to be on the web, it's how the little guy evens the playing field. You need a forum to show work and it helps cut down on tire kickers trying to get something for nothing. They see my reference prices right there so I don't have to deal with "wow that's an expensive car wash". Plus there is no way you can tell me you have not used Google to find something you want to buy. With the proper web presence your not wasting time by "going out and getting work". Your too busy working.

I may be slow, but I do poor work.

I like "you come to us" and "we come to you". But, I'd rather to make it sound professional like "in-shop" and "mobile".

One of the best detailing site with detailed price! Good job!

I strongly agree with an internet presence in today's marketplace. The only problem with asking here for input is that we have the owner/service provider perspective. I want the prospective customer's perspective and have asked a bunch of friends for their opinion on my draft pages.

Don't get me wrong, i will also ask here when i think it is ready for the pro's here to look at but i want to appeal to those shopping first and then refine it to satisfy those here who have an abundance of experience with what works best before going live.

Basically i know how i buy things online. I also know the detail product. And knowing those two things, i will translate and fabricate my approach into a current day marketing arsenal that will be supported by my work.

The only constructive comment i can make to Sweatthedetails is to maybe find a different way to differentiate prices between the mobile rate and non-mobile rate. Maybe list your services with price estimates and add in a note for mobile or non-mobile rates, depending on which one you favor.

I love all the pictures in your gallery. I am drawn to the possibility someone can see their very vehicle, whether interior or exterior, being shown.

U have some valid reasons of setting up a web to eliminate tire kickers I get 10 a week, I just know how to politely ignore them ,I know in 4 min either to invest or to abort.im more into production detailing and I also do really high end stuff,I personally wouldn't spend on a web ,but that's me ,I have 250000 people in my town alone and I'm bordere between palm beach and vero beach I'm constantly busy ,so if u think its gonna work do it to try it out .but from friends that a veteran detailers I'm trying to save you money on that maybe start with a Facebook ad.sometimes people with a limited budget can help you by doing there car and they tell there friends and you eventually stumble on to higher end clients .if you're gonna set up a web to hunt for those 1000 dollar paint corrections forget it.you have to expose ur self,a simple 40 dollar car wash will give u that exposure that a millionaire will pull up and bam u got what u wanted now he tells his friends and so on .i once detailed this lady sienna ,she was a housekeeper for a millionaire and guess what I take care of 40 classics,a pillatus airplane a navy bomber airplane he even has me detailing his back up generator.23 years in this industry just trying to knock some sense into u young guys.

Ahh now it makes sense. Yes the Internet can be a scary place for our older friends lol. Welcome to the Information Age and congrats on stumbling upon FaceTwitter. Detailing forums are also very handy allies of information. I'm a little older myself and had to teach myself that the Internet was my friend. I started with Craigslist. Then I made a Facebook business page. Then got a google spot and taught myself how to use Adwords. I had a guy handling a basic webpage but I hated having to pay him for every little change. Did a little research, learned How to get hosting and a domain name. Played around with word press and HTML before realizing how easy Weebly is. Now I can play around with my website anytime I like. It's fun and it allows me some creativity, kind of like detailing. Yes I'm 38, just a high school education, not a full time detailer. This is more a hobby then anything. As for expense the website cost my about $50 a year, well worth it seeing as many of my customers come from it. It gives me real edge against those who rely on just word of mouth. I'm in the Military full time so it's hard for me to really build up the word of mouth when I'm only in an area 3-4 years at a time.

A few quick personal observations which are hopefully helpful to you:

- I found the photo gallery is fairly long. Perhaps look at breaking it into sections, potentially by each individual car / project. Maybe an initial set of the very best example of each type of issue, which could always lead to another page with more detail and examples?

- You might want to break the gallery up with some short descriptions about what the problem was. I know some are obvious, but for things like paint oxidation correction it might be useful.

- You come to us: Probably important that you lead with your actual location, so it allows customers to immediately identify it if it an option for them. You might also want to provide details about the logistics involved - e.g. you will need to leave the car with us for a period of... etc. Or perhaps you offer "while you wait" service? You may want to mention transport options if someone is dropping off their car etc.

- when considering just the "we come to you" option, having only Bronze, Bronze Plus, and Silver options may be 1) initially confusing, and 2) off-putting. You could consider not using the same classification "you come to us" option.

- Alternatively you could use Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, unless there is a compelling reason for the "Bronze Plus" option as the odd one out.

- And alternately again, you could use the "plus" option across all categories to consistently signify an upgrade in the products used, rather than the service offered.

Good luck with the website and the business.

Didn't look at all of it word by word, but LOVE the before/after photos! Better way to get more in there would be to do a split frame, then you'd be able to show twice as much of your work.

Two quick spelling errors I saw. Healites and jams. Headlights (of course) and jambs. ;)

Rain X ... I would NOT bother to explain that you're using Rain X. You might say glass coating, glass sealant, glass protectant. Actually... I (and many many more) find Rain X a pita to work with. I do like the Rain X glass cleaner as well as the similar product from Duragloss. Both leave a Rain X type water repellant afterwards. You might like to try one of the glass coating products and you'll never look back. :dblthumb2: They are very economical (in the grand scheme of things), go on quick, and they WORK.

Did notice that you don't offer "gold" when you go to them. Is there a reason for that?

As for prices... that's just where you need to separate yourself from the rest of the market. Personally... I'd charge more, a LOT more.

When you say you're decontaminating the paint, I take it you're saying claying/Nanoskin, Iron X, and all this is with the wash, THEN you're doing an AIO type buff job, AND buffing the glass with rayon pads and a dedicated glass polish. WOW! That is a lot of work, (and a lot of product).

Although I don't see where you mention wheel wells and wheels. That and applying shine, taking care of exhaust tips, polishing, cleaning, tire coatings etc.

Understandable thank you for protecting our nation,

Love the site and what you have done! Especially the before and after slides. Really shows your potential.

Just one comment. The following sentence is using the improper form of "it's".

"Conveniently located on the West Side and serving most of Jacksonville, we specialize in making your car look it's best."

Should be "its" (possessive form) as "it's" is an abbreviation of "it is".

Much luck to you!

Ok so I think any marketing guru is going to agree that you're missing a call to action. I'd get rid of the cheesy blue vista print graphic with your number on it and just put some nice bold text in black across the top that says "Call us today to reserve your detailing appointment at xxx-xxx-xxxx" or something along those lines. Use the H2 header simce you don't have one and do not leave out the word detailing. This will help your search engine rank.

I really like how your before and afters are very consistent using the same angle shots. Those are the best I've seen.
