Hi All,

I recently got a PM asking what the smallest compressor necessary for applying Opti Bond was. Because paint/air guns use a large quantity of air, you really need a 10-20 gallon model that can continuously produce 40-60 psi. If this is not in the budget, I have an alternative for you.

The Wagner Control Spray only needs electricity to operate and does a very nice job with dressings thinned 1:1 with water (like Opti Bond, or Protectant Plus). The tip can spray a fan or cone and coverage is controlled by changing your distance from the surface. I picked mine up before I had a compressor and it has seen 3+years of service without a problem. You do not need to clean it after each use and the container is suitable for storing the dressing without issue. I know they are sold at Lowe's, but mine online was $39.

Here's a pic:

I like it. Not only would it make dressing tires a breeze but also wheel wells. :props:

Appreciate the heads up Chris. Thank You

I'm the one who PM'ed Chris. Thanks, bud! My thinking was using this for wheel wells and engines, and continue to dress tires using an applicator(no possibility of overspray).

I have a four gallon compressor, works great for tires, wells, just make sure you get a compressor that flows cfm, around 5+cfm at 40 psi, which usually requires atleast a 2hp motor, for the spray gun just make sure the tips a 1.6-1.7, with low pressure needed to operate, i.e. Around 5cfm or lower, then dilute opti bond 1:1 and blow it out at 50-60 psi, you'll use a ton less product, but still maintain great results :)

How about this one?

2 HP, 4 Gallon, 115 PSI Pancake Compressor - Compressors-Oil - Air Tools

That thing has the same stats as mine with a better tank setup, and that's a great price, since you won't be using this thing 24/7 that should last you the rest of your life, great find, also you'll need hose and quick disconnects. Some compressors come with more attachments then others so you'll have to see what it comes with, but another use for it is to blow out your interior, all the cracks will easily clean just crank it up to around 90psi when your doing that, do this before vacuuming :) also make sure you drain the condensation out after each use since I'm guessing at most you'll only use it once a week :)

Thank you! :dblthumb2:

At what PSI do you shot opti-bond on wheel wells? EDIT: U said 50-60 in the post before.

Do you use the optimum spray gun?
