After reading a lot of yeas/neas on this tire gel, I broke it out this afternoon to see for myself. I used the carrand tire gel brush to apply. Really no drama. I loved the finish it left with ONE coat. Very even and just the right amount of gloss. Only negative i found (compared to DP gel) is i noticed it took more product it seemed than DP to coat the tire. The clear opti bond bottle could be tricking me into thinking that tho? I love the DP tire gel. But the opti coat was a big winner in my book. I think i like the look of the opti coat better. And being water based, seemed less greasy on the tire and brush.

I agree the Opti-Bond looks nice, but please update us on durability.
 
Opti bond will last a couple of weeks unless you get it wet. Like any water based dressing it will go away or be greatly reduced after that.

OB is my one of my go to tire dressing. I just don't understand people not liking OB because it's gone or the gloss is reduced after a rain. When you wash your car (next day or 1 week later) don't you wash the crud off of your tires? It only takes a minute to apply a new coat of OB.
 
Definitely, the key here is water based. And it means rain, washing your ride all etc... You would likely re-apply it, therefore what is the fuss? Another thing to try, Opt Leather Protectant on tire, I know it sounds crazy but it works. Ok, it is not worth the money.

P/S: Well in my place real detailing knowledge is scarce, majority shops still con customers into "greasy, shiny" tire dress which some of them just use mechanical grease or engine oil.
 
Optimum Opti-Bond has a very nice finish..not greasy or shiny to me.
 
Opti Bond only lasts a week? I don't think so. I only use Opti Bond every other car wash. My bottle of Opti Bond has lasted me over two years and i still have 40% left. How much more would you like to stretch your products?

I'm with you on this. Everyone rants be because it is supposedly not durable but who on here doesn't re apply tire dressing after each wash?

If you don't want to re apply might as well use a coating :) I love opti bond!

i will say, after applying it with a HVLP gun it does go on nice and easier.. actually lasts through a rainstorm
 
I've been very pleased with Opti Bond as well. I use it on rubber trim as well, and it leaves everything looking very well-finished and clean.
 
I dont know. No problems so far. Had a good rain since saturdays detail. Drove in it. Checked the tires today. They still have a decent gloss to them.....
 
UPDATE.
I have no problems at all with this tire dressing! This and the carrand tire dressing brush = perfect tires. Had some rain this week. The shine held up. Again, if you detail every week, i see no issues. NO SLING. And i did notice this morning, it took LESS product since the tires were treated once with it. One bead on the brush per tire. LOVE THIS TIRE DRESSING.

lasts roughly a week for me also, but after using Pinnacle concentrated wheel cleaner on the tires and rims and reapplying it looks really good. like the matte look, not overly shinny.
 
I'm down to about a 1/2 gallon of my Opti-Bond Gel. Yeah, I like it and use it, but I'm noticing that even cut 1-1, putting it in a little Salon Spray bottle, spraying a few squirts around the tires, then wiping with a clean sponge, it seems to still work nicely, and with the 1-1 ratio cut it is helping to stretch product.

Diluted a bit, it does seem easier to apply, and fill into all the little ribs these new tires all seem to have today.
 
So far this as been a great tire dressing. This weekend i may try a varation. I was going to mix it 50/50 in a spray bottle. And spray on the 1:1 mix. Any one try this yet? I see MARKD51 as used this method....
 
I use OB undiluted. I use a brush applicator for initial application to get the dressing into the grooves of the sidewall, and then smooth it out with a foam applicator afterwards. I allow the dressing to dry/soak into the tire for a while (30 min or so) and then apply additional coats if needed. If there is excess product on the surface after 30 minutes or so, I will then lightly remove it with a MF towel.

This has been one of my go to tire dressings for a while now. It looks great, and you use very little product. I've been using the same 32 oz. bottle for over a year now... that includes my own cars as well as customer cars.
