Opti-Coat 2.0, 22ple VX1 Pro, or GTechniq EVOv2

So I think pretty much everyone agrees Opti Coat is the longest lasting but which one is the best looking?

I have looked at multiple cars with coatings, waxes, sealants... Its really all in the prep.

Some coatings will ever so slightly give you a "darker / wetter" look. But it is really dependent on the color of vehicle and polishing ability of the detailer. I have noticed the CQ looks ever so slightly better to me than OC. But it is REALLY splitting hairs.

If you used any 2 of these products on your car. (1 on either side Driver door / Passenger door) I personally think most of us would not be able to name the coating simply via looks...

I have used Gtechniq C1 / EXO / EXOv2

Regardless which Exo you go with, the BEADING is INSANE. I spray water on my car, everything just rolls off, there is a small amount that is beaded and still on the surface.
But when compare to OC, EXO rolls off much faster, while OC is just beading on the surface.

But IME the Gtechniq line did give me quite a hard time applying it...
It could be because the vehicle i was working with is WHITE, and i do not have super professional work space / lighting. HOWEVER i did manage to do a good job at it, after messing up the 1st time applying C1. (I had to light polish my ENTIRE truck)

I also have used OC 2.0 before, but i have always USED IT ON WHEELS. Because of their known durability. Apply it once, and never have to do it again.

I have 22ple applied on my WRX, but i traded it in. Super easy to apply, there is no way you will mess up. I believe it is on par with the Gtechniq stuff, but EXO still rolls off and bead better. And i'd assume 22ple does not have much of a scratch resist compare to c1.
Also 22ple is SUPER expensive compare to all the other coatings out there.

I am looking to try a coating on my white 2007 Toyota (single stage paint) and friend's black 2011 Toyota that are both parked outside 24/7 and driven daily. Basically we're looking for a product that will last a long time and offer protection from the elements since our vehicles are driven daily and we live in an area with alternating sun and rain multiple times every day. Have been using Collinite845 wax and 4 Star Ultimate Paint Protection sealant on the vehicles, but like the idea of a product that protects better and lasts a year or two. Based on what I could find online I was trying to narrow it down between Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0, GTechniq EXO v2, and 22ple VX1 Pro Glass Coating. I'm open to all feedback, suggestions, and other products as well. Thanks in advance.

Based on the above, Opti-Coat hands down!

From my research and use I think exo gives the best shine/gloss but like said also has a lot to do with work done before you coat it. But that is why I just went with c1 and exo for my vette!

Opti coat would be the best bet and between 12 hours after and 30 days you can add layers (which is nice insurance that you did not miss a spot). EXO is more of a sealant than a coating, meaning it's not quite as thick or scratch resistant. At the same time we are taking about splitting hairs. Some coatings like C1, take sealants being applied on top very readily. I've had great success typing C1 with Klasse High Gloss Sealant. I've worked with most of the coatings and definitely it is all about the preparation. You do a good preparation then you will have an easy good looking application. I like to apply all of my coatings on the thick side (if you do your prep and take your time) and have found that the amount you'll need is more than they provide. OC, I would recommend two tubes to do the truck and rims.

OC is layerable now? I was always under the impression that OC is not layerable as it won't bond properly to itself.

I've come to really like CQUK edition. Looks incredible, very easy to apply, can be layered, and topped with Reload to kick it up another notch.

Sorry if off topic, but has anyone applied any of the above (CQ, OC2.0, etc) to powder coated wheels? Haven't searched yet, just thought I'd get a definite answer in this thread.

Not having used any, still doing my research, it seems as if CQ seems to have the best look along with great durability.

Yes, Opti Coat 2.0 you can layer but you have to work with the drying/curing process. I recommend waiting around 48 hours to add the second coat. I've never had a problem. The rep has added that you can wait up till 30 days (depending on climate temperature and humidity) to add a layer after that the resin will have gotten rid of all the water in it reaching its maxim hardness and will not allow anything to adhear. I wouldn't try adding a layer after two weeks if it was me.

I've not tried it on powder coat wheels but roof racks and the like (it should work about the same). OC works great on powder coat. It will darken it slightly but will keep a mat look to it. Actually a second coat does look great, adds a slight sheen to it that would be considered eggshell by house paint gloss terms. Only one slight caviot is that you have to make sure the surface is very clean, powder coat can hide wax and dirt that you visibly can not see until it has been coated.

Since this thread was started, at least two new sets of products have hit the market - the PolishAngel line and the Pinnacle Black Label line. Has anyone done a comparison with the above products with these two new lines?

For pure durability nothing has been proven better than OC. I have OC Pro on my truck.

Finest is the pro version of CQuartz. That is true, just like OC has a pro only version. Don't let that distract you. Finest is actually slightly different tech than original CQ and need to be heat cured for best results.

I have not used 22ple or GTechniq C1; but I can tell you CQuartz is on the same playing field and is as good as them. There are some that say one looks better than another but it is my understanding after much research that they are all more similar than anyone want to admit. You may want to check out my review of CQuartz below. I was so impressed this the original CQuartz that I am getting ready to re-polish and apply CQUK to one car again. And this is after 2 years. CQUK is claimed and reported to have better depth and gloss than the original CQuartz.

I've found CQuartz UK to be easier and more foolproof to apply than Opti-Coat 2.0. With the 2014 revision of UK, per the CarPro Facebook page, it is now supposed to have similar durability to CQuartz Finest.

Most of us enthusiasts will want to do a light polish every year or two anyway, so the lifetime durability may not be relevant to us.

I have C1, OC, Cquartz AND Cquartz UK on varoius panels of my car. For durability I'd have to go with OC, for looks, the Cquartz rocks!

Any update after another 6 months?

Are any of them less likely to accumulate dust?

Is there any significant difference in durability of appearance between the CQuartz and the UK version?

Let face the fact - if you love detailed and de-swirled paint, chances are you will want to keep it this way. Now, no matter how careful you are, within a year you will see light paint imperfections, and within 2 - more of them and water spots. So the question is - why do you need a "lifetime protection"? Opti-coat is nice, but I primarily use it on wheels, rather then paint. On paint I really like Gtech exo v2 and 22ple VX1 pro. Shine is insane on properly polished paint (take your time and do 2-4step polishing), and covered with a glass coating. No you cannkt go wrong with any of these coatings, I personally prefer 22ple on soft bmw jet black paints...
