I am thinking of going with the Opti-Coat 2.0 for a new vehicle for easy maintenance. Touchless auto washes may be used on this vehicle from time to time due to convenience, so easy maintenance and durability is the theme here. What products would I need for prep, and which items would be needed to maintain this finish?

Thanks

id stick with the Optimum line of polishes...a damp MF to remove the polishing oils and you will be good to go with the OC...

ONR to maintain it.

Numerous maintenance tips in this thread: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ew-extreme-testing-opti-coat-2-0-cquartz.html

ONR is easy and versitle and with the easy release properties of the coating is a great maintanence wash. But the beauty of the coating comes after the first week when you can use well lubricated strong detergents like Dawn or CG citrus was & gloss to make cleaning a breeze without removing your protecting like it would with conventional LSPs. This is exceptionally handy when you need to flush crevaces and remove neglected road films but don't have time to reapply a LSP. No other maintenance is needed than cleaning. You can apply a OCW or OID if you want a waxed feel or just want to change the appearance some.

The complete Optimum line is awesome !!!! Great Products :dblthumb2:

2.0 will scratch and swirl. If you treat it as a sacrificial barrier, then no special maintenance is needed.
Being the Geeks that we are, we have sought ways to keep 2.0 swirl and etch free. Your post history reflects this.

I know Chris did not mention this but I have been using the new Opti-Clean on top of Opti-Coat and have had great results. Really shines and feels slick.

Use Pinnacle WW with Carnauba to maintain. I have an OC'd car and the Pinnacle WW does wonders with it! Cleans it, makes it feel slick, and a slight layer of wax is added. Awesome stuff to maintain OC car

4 questions:
1)Do any professional detailers in New England offer this option to there clients?
2)Would any of those said detailers be willing to show me how?
3)How many vehicles can you get out of each tube?
4)Can you apply multiple layers of Opti-Coat?

1) I'm sure there are
2) maybe....
3) 2 max I would say
4) two layers

Thanks everyone. I did pickup a few items from Autogeek on the Black Friday sale. I bought the DG 901, the BOGO ONR, Pinnacle safe scrub Bug/Tar Remover, and some APC plus. I had planned on mixing the DG901 with ONR, but I can stick with just ONR if that works better. I assume the Pinnacle scrub pad is safe as well, but I've never tried it.

It looks like I need to get some of the Optimum Polish II and maybe even the Optimum Finish Polish if this is the best combo to prep for Opti-Coat 2.0. I want to get the best shine possible out of a gun metal gray. What do you guys think?

I already had the Optimum Car Wax in my wishlist, but I forgot to order that one. I have seen many great reviews on it, so I believe I have made a final decision on that one.

Feel free to give me any tips or opinions on my listed choices. I am looking for ultimate shine and protection with little maintenance. I have 3 kids to keep up with in my spare time. :xyxthumbs:

What kind of feed back are you looking for? All the products you've listed do what they claim and are really easy to use. You should have no problems and our line has synergistic compatibility. If you had a specific question, I'll try to help.

After looking over my post, it appears I must have been drinking or something. I couldn't follow what I was asking either. I will just ask this. Will the Pinnacle Safe Scrub or DG 901 hurt the OC?

See if this list looks right for prep.
1. Wash with Dawn to remove everything
2. Apply Optimum Polish II
3. Apply Optimum Finish Polish
4. Remove Polish with wet microfiber
5. Apply Opti-Coat 2.0
