Chris i have a question about OC 2.0, on June 26 around noon time, i applied OC 2.0 on my wheels.
And today June 27 in the morning i did a complete dawn wash to get my car ready for coating.

I am wondering did any of the OC got degrade by the dawn wash soap?

I am located in texas... which is pretty hot, if temperature matters

It's hard to say. Opti-Coat 2.0 takes longer to cross link and cure than Opti-Coat Pro and I wouldn't wash Opti-Coat Pro with a degreaser for a week or so. I don't really know what you could get by with. I suppose it would depend on dwell time and whether you agitated it or not.

Yes, I am.

Low and behold the carbon fiber hood I did, came in yesterday for a wash. His CF hood was covered in these spots that looked like waterspots, but after washing & further inspection they were some kind of chemical etches that got sprayed on, like water would do. What was weird was, i didnt see any other spray on his car paint (Light silver metallic), but some on his headlights. He did recently have a front bumper body kit installed.. they probably did it somehow. His hood was originally done the same day as mine. Mine was a test/practice run since his was the first person I was charging for OC since I bought it. Sorry i didnt get any pictures, I just polished out again and applied HB this time.

I am wondering if i could have possibly got a bad batch.. if thats even possible??

Its not like its hard to apply OC.. i followed the directions and applied with a brand new small yellow foam applicator by hand. Since its pretty hot out here, I noticed the OC pro flashes dry pretty fast.

We had some syringes over a year ago that could develop a leak and because they let some air in, sometimes the Opti Coat would yellow...but, even then the product still performed the same. Maybe we can go over your application step by step and find the issue. I have been Opti Coating cars since before it was available to pros or consumers and many of my customers still come in at least annually and I haven't had any issues you describe. So, we start by eliminating things unique to your method or if you have some product left, you can return it for analysis. I'd be happy to help you either way. My email is [email protected].

Just want to update this thread. A few days after this incident, i had some more bird poo spatter on my hood. I got it cleaned off pretty quickly but it was in the sun and did more "Etching".

I am quoting "etching" because apparently it didnt really etch per se, although it appeared to be. The surface was visibly stained, and no amount of waterless wash and rubbing was taking it off. I gave up.

A few wash's later, they're gone! And the original "etch" pictured in the first post was gone too! For the life of me I cannot find it.. it literally disappeared. I was staring at it so hard and so long in full sun that I noticed a good amount of high spots only visible in certain light and angles. So apparently the OC has bonded properly, and is doing as advertised.

So I am giving credit to the OC. Also Chris @ Optimum is a stand-up guy and very helpful although I gave him an earful via Email.

OC has also kicked Spar's A$$$$$$ on my test headlamp. This headlamp is out facing the sky 24/7 with a 50/50 application of Spar/OC. The OC side is 95% as crystal as it was the day I applied it, where the spar is virtually completely yellowed. So I ordered OLens as my new method of restoring headlights.

Side Story: My wifes 2001 CRV got sap bombed from a tree outside the house and since she's a busy lady I havent got to wash it in over 4 weeks!!! Last time this happened I had to strip the car down with APC to get it off, It took 3+ washes on some areas to remove the sap, then I finished the job with OC.

THIS TIME: One pass with a waterless wash and it was all gone.

IMO OC and OLens are legit and well worth the investment.

Glad you updated us. Did you try claying it after the first incident? Just curious.

No i didnt do anything to it besides waterless wash.

Semper Fi bro, Former Marine here too.

What is the difference between OptiCoat 2.0 and OptiCoat Pro??

From my understanding, Opti-Coat 2.0 is the consumer version and dries slower to make application easier for the non-pros. Glad to hear it worked out Jay.
