Given that Opti-Coat is harder than factory clear coats for the most part, how is the polishing ability by hand? I would suspect it to be difficult to achieve decent results by hand if it's supposed to be more durable than clear. (I know it also depends on the hardness of the factory clear)

Has anyone tried to clean their opti-coat? Mine still looks great but I have noticed some things I would like to remove from the NY winter and plenty of washes.

I'm not sure I follow you. You have already Opti-Coated and you're looking to take out some marks you've put into the coating/paint? I just do ONR washes whenever I can unless it's filthy and then I use a 2 BM. Nothing that needs correction so far.

There is light swirling in the coating and a few bug marks I must not have taken care of timely. I would rather not clay so I don't risk marring anything.

I guess it comes down to what you can live with. If you want to make the surface perfect, then you need to strip the OC and seal it again. You would need to do that to remove the OC anyway, so it's not like you'd be doing extra work. If you can live with it, leave it alone. Microwave your clay for about 30 seconds to make it very pliable and try it in an inconspicuous area. That will tell you if it will marr or not. If not, try that on the bug marks and see how it goes. Good luck.

You can lightly polish defects, but you run the risk of compromising the coating if you polish too much. That being said you can simply re-apply the coating if that happens.

Polishing by hand sucks! :D

I think I will just leave it. It's a daily driver so it won't ever be perfect- especially since its black. Wouldn't want to jeopardize the coating at all.

Cool tip on the microwave! I'll have to give it a try :props:
