Opti-Coat Wheels & Car Weekend Project

Or would I be better off just spraying it with a hose and maybe following up with a half dilution of my Megs Gold Class Shampoo?

I did two of my wheels on my car and the first one I was worried like you that I didn't apply enough and when I did the second wheel I used a little more product. I didn't have any high spots on either and I was surprised. It's been a few weeks and they look really good. I'm doing my truck wheels next since its used a lot more

Can't wait to see your pics

I see last year about this time you commented that Optimum Instant Detailer was leaving streaks on your Opti-Coated car, I was wondering if you ever settled in on a QD to be used on OC? I currently have ONR and Griots Speedshine on hand.

Anyone else have good bad experience with QD on Opti-Coat?

First off, please excuse the fact that the car is dirty :D. It has been sitting in the garage since Monday when it was Opti-Coated so it had a fine layer of dust on it before I drove it today. And at work, about half a block up wind today they were mulching their leaves............ and I will at some point do a full write up of what was done and used on the car, just wanted to get some pictures up.

But the sun was out when I got home so I finally got some reasonable pictures, hoping to wash it tomorrow and I will get some pictures of both water action and of the clean finish. Though, I am slightly impressed how well the car still shines for how dirty it is. Pictures might not show it well, but if I wiped part of the hood I could easily capture a picture of the clean area. :D

Here are some pictures of the wheels, could not find a good before picture for the face of the wheel due to lighting and the fact that they were pretty clean. Even the inside of the wheel was not as dirty as I thought it was, the one picture below was the dirtiest.

After cleaning and opti-coat had been applied.

Here is a couple pictures of the reflection coming off the roof you can also see the layer of dust...

I think this one from the stand point that the opti-coat seemed to do a pretty good job of adding a candy like shine to my clear bra which helped match it to rest of the car. The entire hood, bumper, bother front fenders are completely covered with clear bra.

Here it is again.

Anyone with any input on QD spray and Opti-Coat???

Found this one going through the camera, 25 years, 1987 to 2012.

Can I also wipe down the OLD FORMULA (compound, polish II, and finish) with damp MF?

If you choose to use Power Clean, that's fine but it needs to be rinsed...and when dry you can go straight to OC with no need for IPA.

I've recently bought a new set of winter wheels and tyres (17" ATS Z-types) and found this old thread particularly useful for preparing and opticoating them, which I did yesterday.

With 15 spokes each, these wheels are a little fiddly, but with the sponge applicator, managed to get it done (both sides). My question is about the volume of OC used. For the four wheels I used a total of 1.1 ml - is this reasonable? I made sure that the sponge was constantly making a squeaky sound and added a couple of drops to each little spoke to prevent the sponge from drying.

I'm interested in hearing your opinions and of your experiences.
