Opti-Guard

I have been happy with all the OPT products that I have purchased. Never used the opti-guard tho. Let us know what you think after you try it out.

We were talking more on the part of what is this thread supposed to be about. Starting a thread to say "Just pulled the trigger on the sample size of Opti-Guard" with nothing else to say just seemed strange.
 
He's excited about trying a new product...probably just wanting feedback.
 
Well I'll be applying it to a 2011 Chevy Malibu as a test to see if Opti-Guard would be a good fit for some rental car companies I am trying to sell to.

There were many people saying rental car places wouldn't be interested, but I'm going to try despite those comments.

With the price of Opti-Guard, it can make the cost more reasonable to them.

How often do rental companies apply a LSP to their vehicles? They probably wax each vehicle 2-4 times a year and pay their employees $10-$20 per application. I can only see them purchasing Opti-Guard for their rental vehicles if the long term savings is greater than the initial cost.

Cost of waxing a vehicle:
5 years $100-$400,
10 years $200-$800

The other question is how long does Opti-Coat or Opti-Guard actually last? I know the product description says it is permanent which implies it lasts forever. If I get 5 years of protection on my vehicle I will be impressed with Opti-Coat and by that time I will probably want to polish out any marring or water spots.
 
Its not just the cost of applying a wax, its how easy a coating like Opti-Guard makes cleaning. I have GTechniq C1 on my minivan, it only takes 5min or less with a pressure washer to get it clean.
 
FYI the Malibu may not be a good test bed for it, mine has super soft paint that will marr even with OC. I also have not seen and real improvement in how well it washes away dirt. A power washer alone will not get the car clean.

The Malibu is currently wearing Dodo Juice Supernatural.

C1 cleans with a pressure washer only, youtube videos show dirt removal with just water. This is why I am testing it.

I just put Opti-Coat on my vehicle of the weekend and haven't driven it yet. I am looking forward to washing at the end of the week to see how well it sheds debris.

That is a good point they will save even more time and money on their regular washes with a paint coating.

I am interested to see how this goes, keep us updated.
 
Have to wait until next week until Dr. G gets back before they ship it out to me.
 
I'm really glad this thread brought out the point of how easy the coating makes maintenance. I have often said that the first thing you should coat is your wheels because it will make a dedicated wheel cleaner obsolete. Wheels can be cleaned with no more than car wash solution after coating. Not mentioned as often is how well the coating releases dirt and bugs. Marring is greatly reduced because less agitation is required to clean. My only word of caution is to use a common sense approach to aftercare. Although the coating is harder to damage, the finish should not be neglected or abused. Bird bombs left for weeks may still etch and hard water mineral deposits can still form on top of ANY surface as water evaporates. Swirl o matiics should still be avoided, but the harsh chemicals found in touch less ARE no longer to be feared. It is really fun to drive home in the rain and arrive with the car looking washed.
