Opti-lens question

I had a car lot contact me about headlight restoration and was wondering what is the coldest temp that I can apply opti lens to the lights.
 
I have no idea about that specific product, but I stopped doing them when I couldn't maintain a 60° ambient environment.
 
Good question. Opti-glass is between 60 and 90 degrees. I believe Opticoat was the same. This is the only Optimum coating of any type I haven't seen it clearly marked on the bottle...or syringe.
 
I have applied OC, Gloss-coat, opti lens at sub 50 degree Temps before. Just give it extra time to flash before you do any wiping. Should be about 90% flashed before you do any wiping. Never had any issues.
 
Is this for multiple vehicles? I don't think I'd offer Opti-Lens for production headlamp restoration; prep time and product cost would negate any potential profits. For a wholesale lot (ie.: no warranty), consider sanding to 1500 then using Sparathane mix. For warrantied work, you're better off sanding to 2000 or 3000 and going straight to a clear coat product.

Yes it's for multiple cars, it's for a little car lot they sell about 10 cars a month. I've got several tubes of opti lens since I accidently ordered 10 instead of 1, but it didn't cost me anything since one of my customers gave me a $500 Amazon gift card for Christmas Im the MAN
 
I have had 2 syringes of Opti-Lens go cloudy and gel up on me. I've always burped the air bubble out and stored the syringe with tip pointed upwards. I didn't event get 1/2 through either one of them. Although, I have not had any of the same issues with the Opti-coat 2.0 and Opti-Gloss tubes I have. I gave up on Optimum polishes a few years ago when my bottles kept separating and wouldn't mix back together.

Some of their stuff just has not stored well for me at all. I have thrown a lot of money spent on Optimum products that ended up in the trash.
 
Cloudiness would be from exposure to air or possibly from freezing. The coatings store very well in the syringes when purged of air and sealed with the black top.
 
I have applied it in 35~40 degrees a few times. I just warm up the lens surface with a heat gun, apply the Opti-Lens, then give it a little more heat to help it flash quicker. No issues so far.
