Opti Mitt - First impressions

I don't have small hands and it fits me just fine.
Well buddy I do have big hands and you know what they say about big hands! I think they should make the slot a little bigger. It seems a little smaller than an SH Mitt slot.

LOL Jim!! I agree
I think it would stay together better too. I like the Black SH Mitt for wheels, tires & wells. I 100% agree with your observations regarding drainage thru the seam or should I say sive! I think I lose about 1/2 gallon of ONR solution more than I did with an MF.

Oh, I also meant to mention that I think the rough side is marketed by Optimum as a paint safe bug or spot scrubber.
You are right about the bug scrubber. I will continue to use my Pinnacle Brick for bugs & tar. Im gonna go back to MF for vertical panels.

The problem is precisely what a previous poster said...the Mitt slot opening...is TOO SMALL (and I don't have large hands).

It needs a re-design in my view. I like the performance, the foam used, and it sheds dirt like crazy...all good things...BUT I think a few HOBBITS designed it.

I totally agree. I don't have big hands but it sure felt like the mitt was going to fall apart after using it just once. Also, it seems to lose too much product when working on vertical panels.
After trying a few mitts and sponges, my current choice is this Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge, big blue wash sponge, lake country sponge, lake country grout sponge, car wash, shampoo

Tell me about it...

I've probably got one of the very first ones since I beta tested two of them and I haven't had it tear yet. I DO put my hand in side. Mine has been used to the point that the lettering on the back is partially gone. It really sucks that yours tore. It looks like the glue held really well but for the tear to be so long it must've gotten hung on something. When my first Shmitt started to wear out it was the glue that gave way but it never ripped like that.

The Mitt did not get hung up, or ripped on anything....it went from one bucket to another. Thats it. The purpose of this forum is for information exchange, whether it be favorable or not. Buyer beware.

I'm sorry if I offended you. I too was only sharing my experience and that tear in your pic looks huge. If you feel like you've eliminated user error, why don't you contact your supplier to get a replacement or a refund? Just my $.02

Also, tucking the lanyard in is fine, but I don't recommend tucking it in and pulling it thru the hole like Corey did in his review. Something like that could start a tear on the corner that could easily travel once started. (not saying you did that, just another observation.)

It's my view that the opening slot is too small thereby it stretches excessively everytime you push and pull your hand in and out, and the top piece of foam is too thin.

The mitt does a great job otherwise. Penny sent me a knew one.

Hm...I have had no issues with mine as far as tearing, and I don't have huge hands, but they aren't tiny either. the only reason I don't reach for the opti mitt is due to losing so much product on vertical surfaces like most have said already.
