Hi everyone

Just wanted to ask opinions from anyone who has compared opti-seal and bfwd in terms of durability and which one sheets more effectively. My local online detailing store has just stocked up on opti-seal and BFWD (both 2012 new versions). I have always used Colly 845 but I want a sheeting sealant that is easier to apply.

I've read so many good reviews about BFWD but have seen nothing as in depth for opti-seal. If anyone has tried the 2012 formula it would help immensely!! :props:

Stick with the Collinite 845. Based on price's for each and what you are looking to accomplish. 845 is the clear winner.

You'd hardly be an Autogeek if you limited yourself to one LSP! Since you want something easier to apply than 845, which is very easy, the only thing easier would have to be a WOWA like Opti-Seal.

If you are happy with it stick with 845. Personally I find it to be overrated. Yes, everyone can shoot me now

Both OS and BFWD are fine products. Since you are asking me to choose from those two I'll go with OS for the attributes you are looking for.

Thanks guys for the responses. I definitely want to have a few lsp's in my arsenal (I have 476s and Sonax Full Protect but no sealants).

Cee Dog I liked your review on BFWD but the sweating issues raised a flag for me. Have you experienced it often since or not with the new formula (if you've compared)?

Hi Mike! Well, I haven't tried the newly labeled blackfire. On the version I have which I would bet a few dollars acts the same as the one from today the sweating was very little and didn't last long so as I mentioned not a big deal... Just very very slight. Was definitely nitpicking. However I will say I prefer this http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...view-four-star-ultimate-paint-protection.html over BFWD. They are both amazing and somewhat similar and you can't go wrong with either. It's just I have never seen any sweating or dusting with the UPP and I believe it looks at least as deep and wet as BFWD.

Cee Dog, Where would you rate UPGP? After reading your review, I bought it and have used it once. I have BFWD and love it, have to use UPGP another time to get the full effect of it. Was super easy to use and looked good

Upgp is in my top two favorite sealants. For light colored, metallic it is my favorite. For pollen season or dusty environments my favorite. To really get the full affect if that gorgeous high gloss candy look you need more than one layer. I like three when I put it on my sky. If I want more durability than that with a high gloss glassy finish I step up to cquartz coating.

If I just wanted durability and didn't want to apply more than 1 coat of a sealant and didn't want to use a coating I would probably go with menzerna Powerlock.

I have been using BFWD and really like the stuff..would top it with Midnight sun..but I recently got the BF Crystal sealant and the stuff is amazing. soo easy and fast to apply and I washed the car today first time since I did it and the sheeting from it is way better then any wax or sealant(BFWD, Souveran, Midnight Sun, 845, Fuzion) I have used before..I think this is the only LSP I will be using for now on.

You guys are really spoilt for choice!! Will def look into UPGP, looking forward to seeing the grudge match that is 2012 Opti-seal vs BF Crystal Seal! :)

I've used 2 coats of Opti-Seal and covered them with 2 coats of 845. Looks great,long-lasting and that 845 is really easy on-off over the O-S.

I have both 845 and BFWD, I LOVE BFWD to be honest its one of the best products ive used and all together BlackFire is my go to brand of products I use. I do like 845 although i havent used it much, but its a great long lasting decently looking wax. But for the look I much prefer BFWD

Thanks for the great responses guys, appreciate it! I recently bought BFWD and I've gotta say it's the easiest product to apply and remove. I love the look and deep shine but tbh I expected to be more wowed. With a name like 'wet diamond' I think it conjures up a 'one of a kind' look but I think I might of had a different expectation. I definitely still want to try OS.

Oh and I forgot, is BFWD more color dependant? The two colors I've used in on so far is metallic silver and white. Maybe they don't lend themselves well to the 'wet diamond'?

After reading this thread at lunch, I went outside,
*strong Dawn wash
*20% IPA with 1 oz ONR wipedown
*MF dry
*OOS and foam applicator
low quality cell phone pics

11 year old daily driver 24/7 outside vehicle in need of light polishing after 8-10 RW (ONR) this past winter.
Can't vouch for durability or sheeting yet, but gloss and ease of use are outstanding.

Literally drops to do entire vehicle - minus pad absorption.
