Optibond

Optibond, what kind of trigger sprayer are you using and what dilution?

I use an air compressor most of the time but when I'm mobile and dont have time to setup the compressor I use the meg's hyperdressing bottle and sprayer, had it for a while no problems, both application techniques I use optibond 1:1

That's interesting, I've tried the spraymaster spayer and an ace hardware trigger sprayer and I couldn't get either to work. The product was too thick. Thanks John, I will definitely look at the megs HD sprayer. Anyone else using a different sprayer?

Was it to thick at 1:1? I have a spraymaster but never used it for optibond, I can try it out real quick though

If you don't mind! Maybe I don't have my 1:1 right. Thanks John, let me know if it works?

Kurt

Ok, the Spraymaster with the 5year warranty that says high output on the side works at 1:1 but really couldnt get a great spray pattern like I can with the Meg's sprayer, want me to see if the sprayer works on the spraymaster bottle? I think the sprayers are just over a buck here on AG

That would be great! You got the same result I did. Sort of a sputtering stream.:xyxthumbs:

Hey Kurt! I use opti-bond 1:1 in a cheap 5oz sprayer from target. Works well for me! I can get 3 vehicals from 4oz.( thats what i mix at once).I also use a cheap chip brush with some of the bristles cut off to spread around let sit a little bit then wipe it off with a cheap mf and done! ( great durability this way and a NEW tire look) which is what I like.

Hi Tim!

Is that a trigger sprayer or a pump sprayer from Target? I love optibond for the satin sheen and durability. I've previously used it straight up on a foam applicator but this not economical! Even 1:1 on a foam applicator probabley suses more product than necassary. I hope to get the sprayer figured out and I will definitely try using a trimmed down brush to help get into the grooves!

K, the meg's sprayer is a tad longer but still fits in the spraymaster bottle, and I think it might be even better fitting then the original sprayer, I'm sure you've noticed that once the liquid gets low the spraymaster's sprayer doesnt work well at all

Trigger sprayer, Kurt you'll find them with the travel stuff, kinda of a curved style bottle.

Thanks John! I really appreciate you checking it out! I am not overly impressed with the Spraymaster sprayers and bottles. I've had two instances of where the sprayer failed mechanically or in this case won't work with the product I want. These are not cheap even if you buy them OTC. I may try the Target sprayer Tim mentioned first only to save on shipping for such a small item. At least I know if that doesn't work I can order the Megs HD sprayer though AG!

Thanks Again John!:urtheman:

Let me know how it works for ya,if you don't like it no problem,if it does then great!

Find something that works for you and use it often! ( and I do use it often) Good luck with your search Kurt, Hope I was of some help.

The type of spray application we recommend is with an HVLP air gun, not a trigger sprayer. The only way to get good results with a trigger sprayer is to "spray" it onto an applicator pad.

That's what I do. Spray it on a foam paint brush from home depot. Works great.

Chris,

What's the downside, if you can get a trigger sprayer to work why use the HVLP? In both cases I'd follow it up with a quick wipe of the applicator foam to even out the spray and give me that satin sheen I like. Any technical reasons why this wouldn't work?

:)

Nope, it does not affect the product performance at all. But...you will use significantly less product, no wiping because the gun atomizes so well, and no overspray on the rims with HVLP.

I have OB 1:1 in a 32oz with a trigger sprayer that I use for off site delivery touch ups with an applicator.
