I have a 32oz bottle coming soon.
A couple of members here talked highly of it.
Really fine polish, super long work time and "zero dusting "

I was told the cut is less than of the 205?
I want it to maintain my black car, I don't need harsh compounds often as I do my best to keep it swirl free, I'm hoping it makes for a great polish to use before I apply a new lsp , but after using the polish I will clean the paint using DP Prep Polish then apply my sealant.
It won't replace my 205, no no no. Lol
My SS paint is really soft, I read up on the Optimum and it's safe to use even on the softest paints including dark colors.
I also have plans to use it when I feel like jeweling my paint, with the long work time it would appear to be a great polish to do so.

Any of you guys use it?, if so how do you feel about it?

I really like it and I should showcase it more often on some of the really cool cars that go through our garage.

Here's a project that I finished out with using Optimum Finish and a Rotary Buffer. There's a TON of information on dozens of topics in just this one write-up I did a few years ago. Definitely worth a read-through...

  • Long working time
  • No dusting
And yes, I would say less cut than M205. I would place M205 into the Fine Cut Polish Category and that means Optimum Finish is probably close to or in the Ultra Fine Cut Polish Category.

It's very good - like all Optimum polishes. Don't expect a lot of cut. Work time is long and dusting is non existent. Use sparingly. Shake well. Expect streaks in the blue coloring of the polish - it's normal. Just shake well.

Optimum traditional polishes are the best stuff out there IMO for polishing plastics. I've used them for a few different plastics via DA and they always work better than dedicated plastic polishes.

Thanks Mike this is the type of feedback I was hoping for.
I looked for a few vids to see it action, the one I found the guy didn't do very good job with the rotary so I stopped it.
Sure would love to see you in action using it with your rotary.

I have a lot of vacation time come this April, would be cool to come and meet you guys.
Put me to work, free of charge of course:dblthumb2:

Good to know being I want little cut.

Thanks for the tip on polishing plastics with it too:dblthumb2:

Great polish but when it says finish polish it means it. Not much cut but finishes beautifully. If you need cut from an optimum polish hyper polish is the way to go.

Your the one that got me interested in the Optimum line:dblthumb2:

Again, I bought it being it has less cut than my 205.
I have many other products when I need a good cut.
I feel the Optimum Finish Polish will out perform my 205 when it comes down to jeweling do to its long work time a little cut.:dblthumb2:

It will definitely jewel better than 205. No dust either.

That's what I'm banking on:dblthumb2:

I look forward to trying the SF4500 i just ordered. I'll be compounding with either FG400 or SI1500, followed with SF4000 then to the SF4500.

So what's the difference between Opti Finish & Opti Finish II?

I agree in that because it's a finer cutting polish it will finish out nicer but M205 on a rotary buffer does buff very nice and create a very high gloss finish.

That combo will make anything look perfect.... pray tell what are you working on?

:dunno:

As far as I know there is no Optimum Finish II

Just Optimum Finish

Optimum Finish

It's the Optimum Compound and Polish that have the II in the name and that took place when Dr. G. updated the formulas probably almost two years ago if not longer.

I think you are confusing optimum finish polish with optimum polish 2. Different products.

Thanks Mike, my eyes were playing tricks on me, I see they're different - Opti Finish & Opti Polish II

Yes I did thanks :xyxthumbs:

I loved everything about Optimum Finish, except that if you don't use it within a certain shelf life it may separate and curdle in the bottle and not shake back to a normal consistency. This happened to 2 different 32 ounce bottles I had of it. (it still worked fine like that when shaken though) I think it took a little over a year on the shelf in the house for this to happen. I've seen this happen to Poli-Seal and Hyper Compound as well. I always recommend the smaller size bottles of Optimum Polishes if you aren't going to use it within a year.

That's the only issue I've had with any of Optimum's polishes. Every other aspect of their performance were top notch.

I've had this problem as well. My Optimum Finish is now like water. Shaking doesn't help. Haven't tried to use it in that state though.
