After doing some research and reading I was intrigued by the design of Optimum Hyper Polish Spray and decided to give it a try. The single most interesting point, according to what I've read, is the cut aggressiveness varies depending on the pad so changing pad densities changes the cut of the polish.

The polish comes to the customer in an easy to use 18 ounce spray bottle. One question that came to mind was if this was a polish and polish contains abrasives then how would it spray? The answer was simple; the spray head and tip is designed to work with this product and sprays quite easily.

When trying out a new product such as this I always lean toward less aggressive approach so begin I chose my Porter Cable 7424 polisher and a 5 1/2 Lake Country white pad.

Test: 2003 Toyota Camry hood

The finish on the hood is in good condition with some minor scratches and swirls. The goal of this test was to determine if using one product and varying pad densities will correct the finish as stated.

After washing and claying the hood I wiped it down completely with a clean microfiber towel. This gave me a good surface to begin the test as I wanted to see how effective Optimum Hyper Polish Spray at removing swirls.

I couple of pulls on the trigger primed the system and a couple of squirts on the pad and on the hood gave me what I thought was a good amount to work with. The product itself is pink and had a light creamy consistency. I set the polisher speed to about 5.5 and began working the surface in a crisscross manor working the section evenly. As the product began to disappear I noticed that the surface was dramatically improved. The time it took to complete a 2 X 2 section was approximately 4 or 5 minutes.

After wiping the surface to remove any residue, it gave me the opportunity to do a before and after comparison and the results were indeed impressive.

The next test was with a gray Lake Country pad. A gray pad doesn't have a great deal of cutting ability to I thought this was perfect to take the shine up one level. I applied the same amount of product to the pad and surface and worked it in a crisscross patten for approximately 3 or 4 minutes and again the results were quite good.

I completed the test by polishing the rest of the hood and it look better than new. After wiping the hood down with some detail spray and a Microfiber towel, I applied a thin even coat of Collinite 845 using a red Lake Country pad with a polisher speed of 3. Allowing the wax to haze then buff, the result was absolutely tremendous! The hood looked like a mirror and the customer could not believe how great it looked!

Conclusion:
  • White Lake Country a bit less aggressive but still performed well just took a bit longer.
  • Start with a green Lake Country pad as it's a bit more aggressive thus reducing the amount of time for the initial correction.
  • The gray pad was just right
  • Polisher speed was good
  • Amount of effort - minimal

If I was looking for a single polish that was easy to use and give me great results it would be Optimum Hyper Polish Spray. Would I use this product again? The answer is an astounding YES!

Nice reviewer and write-up...

Besides sharing your experience which adds value to the forum, writing it in such a way to make it easy to read is real helpful, even little things like lots of white space around sentences and paragraphs make it easy for people to read.

Huge chunks of text scare people and they'll skip reading it.

Nice job!

:)

Nice review. I'd like to try this one of these days.

Any difficulty with product removal, dusting, or pad clogging?

Any photos? I would agree with Mike, your writing style is great!

thanks for the review.. every day I log into the forum to see reviews on products.. love your reviews thanks.

Don,

Unfortunately no...

As they say; Hindsight is an exact science and when I look back some photos would have been great to accompany my review.

Next time I'll be sure to take some! :props:

Nice write-up, Bob. I love the new Optimum spray polishes...the working time, lack of dusting, and overall user friendliness are second to none.

Great review Bobby. Would it not have been better to wipe down the polish with an IPA instead of a QD to see if the polish left anything behind? Meaning oils that might have been hiding some swrils.:props:

Thanks for the review Bobby but :postpics:

I disagree. IMHO, what is important is the perception of the reviewer. Photographs do not reveal what is seen by the reviewer and can be easily manipulated. Of course, we all love pics. :)

You know, that's a very good point!

Initially I rolled a few drops of Optimum Hyper Polish between my fingers and it didn't feel oily.

As I worked the product it became almost transparent with no appreciable dust or films. I cleaned the entire surface with detail spray and the surface looked and felt very clean and smooth.

Could I have used IPA instead of detail spray? Yes and I don't think it would have been a bad idea and the next time I will!

Thank you for your review and more info about the product maybe one day i will try it it looks very promising (time saver) ,very nice write-up.

Bobby, I agree with Ron 100%. An IPA wipedown will reveal a true finish. :xyxthumbs:

Great review Bobby.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.

What did the product smell like?

What did the product smell like?

To tell you the truth, I don't remember....

If I remember I'll take a whiff tomorrow and report back.

Even though it looks allot like Pepto-Bismol I would not confuse the two as something tells me it won't work quite the same.....

Any difficulty with product removal, dusting, or pad clogging?

Somehow I missed your question!

The product worked very well and was easy to remove. I noticed very little dusting and no pad clogging at all. I did not let the product sit and dry out but rather wiped it clean right after I was through.

The pads themselves cleaned up nicely with a coupe of squirts of APC then toss them in a bucket of hot water and Dawn.

Great review man!

I think this product would work very nice with an orange pad too, but anyway, your review has made me eager to have it :dblthumb2:

I had gotten Optimum Hyper spray polish and had been meaning to try it!

Recently my car had been at a bodyshop for some repairs and repaint on 4 panels and and I got it back just a few days ago!

I noticed loads of swirls at the bodyshop and told them about it and they said that its just a sealant that they used!! I was literally laughing as they didn't even know what they just did with that rotary!

Anyways, I got back and washed the car properly. IPA'd the repainted panels just in case they'd applied a sealant or something!

the rotary noob guy had hologram ed whole of my car!!! (even the non re-painted panels!!)

Here's a video of the hood(sorry for bad quality, phone cam!)

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8J2YpjzYYk]YouTube - Body shop induced buffer holograms!!![/video]

My car had never ever seen such severe holograms and swirls!

I knew I'd have to polish it all again!

Check out the hologram pics too!! (Makes me really sad as I'd polished each of the panel to perfection! :( )

And here's a pic after claying(clayed with a clay block as I was gonna polish it anyway) Clay block cleans up really good, but I'd use it if I'll be following up with correction!))

I chose Optimum hyper polish spray with a orange 6.5" CCS pad along with my dynabrade switchable backing plate(on DA mode) on my rotary!

One thing I noticed instantly about dynabrade and rotary combo was, that it made quite less noise compared to my DA polisher and vibrations were quite less too! (+ the power you have(Rotary power + DA mode of dynabrade) is just astonishing!!)

Optimum hyper polish was amazing too!! I primed the whole pad with a few sprays and took a few concentrated spots on the pad and began polishing!!

It was able to clear up most of the holograms after just 2-3 section passes! And no dusting at all!!

I was expecting polish splatter too and covered up most of the plastic areas and hard to clean surfaces, but to my amazement it didn't even splatter! (M105 seems to splatter on me dunno why!)

Some before/ afters

After(left side of the hood)

Thats more like it

Left side is corrected and the right side is still swirled! (dunno why they're not showing properly in the pics!)

I was really happy with Optimum hyper polish and will be using the same combo all over the hologrammed panels!

I'm planning on following up with PO85RD/white ccs pad and afterwards, ultima paint prep plus on a black pad and finally UPGP!

Any advise/tips/comments will be greatly appreciated! :D :hungry:
