Optimum Opti-Seal - New & Improved!

I am so tempted to try this, but I still have a nearly full bottle of the old version that would take decades to finish if I just used it on wheels and glass :(

I love the original, use it on wheels and more. Cannot wait to see this new version in action.

Scott, talk to us more on how you use opti-seal on the wheels. Are you using it after cleaning as a wax protectant? What other surfaces are you using it on? I use the product as a AIO and it leaves stunning results. Thanks for the infoFeed back please

Does anyone know how to tell if you have the new version? I want to pick some up from my local detailing store and want to be sure I get the new one!

Thanks!

How's the new formula against Blackfire Crystal Seal ?

I love the new version! Never used the old stuff but love love the new stuff. lol

It must be awesome if it's better than the old version! I love me some Opti-Seal! My bottle I bought last will last forever.

What the difference between Opti-Seal and Optimum Spray Car Wax?

Opti-Seal is a Wipe On Walk Away sealant, and OCW is a spray wax.

If you want a wet, slick, deep, and shiny paint surface use both of them.

I've used Opti-Seal for 6 months or so,but I just now started using OCW. I had 4 different spray waxes with very little left in the bottle. I decided to use them up before I bought any OCW. Opti-Seal topped with Zaino Z8 looks incredible, but even more so when topped with OCW!

I know that one is a spray sealant and one is a spray wax more or less. It just seems that the purpose of them are the same. Just want to know the differences in outcomes are.

The difference is that Opti-Seal is a WOWA (Wipe On, Walk Away) sealant, while OCW is a spray wax (actually a hybrid sealant/wax), that needs to be buffed in. The application of either of these is different than a traditional LSP, which you apply, allow to haze, then buff off.

A WOWA sealant is simply spread thinly onto the surface, and it flashes and disappears, no need to go back and buff it off later, or to buff it in. OCW is applied more like a QD, you spray it on, wipe it in, then flip to a dry side of the towel to buff it dry.

Any problems with this product streaking on a black car?

Well...yes, and no. It's all part of the learning curve with WOWA's. If you apply too heavy, you will get areas that won't flash clear. Some of this has to do with temperature and humidity. When I first started using WOWA's I was disappointed, because I had all these "high spots" on my car that I had to go around and wipe off...so much for walking away. However, I found if I just parked the car in the garage after, all the high spots would be gone the next day.

What can you tell me about Opti-coat 2.0? When I bought my Camaro it had Quantum paint protection. This gave great protection against everything including light scratches and swirling for about 18 months and 70 washes at a car wash. This seems to be the same thing?? I saw a video on the Quantum product the other day then it was taken down. They don't allow it to be sold OTC. Are you familiar with Quantum and can you tell me if this is close??

First of all, this thread is about Opti-Seal, not Opti-Coat.

I looked up the Quantum-Shield and it appears to be the usual dealer snake oil product. I don't see it protecting agains light scratches and swirling; I read the warranty and the as-long-as-your-arm list of things that it doesn't cover or will void your warranty includes "abrasion". It basically covers the paint peeling off.

Here's what it covers:

If during the Term of this Limited Warranty the exterior surfaces of the Vehicle are damaged by weather induced oxidation, fading, industrial fallout, or loss of gloss following the professional application of Sealant, We will then have the affected area repaired and will have the Sealant reapplied by Your issuing Dealer.

Notice it doesn't mention bird poop, tree sap, etc. Here's what's excluded:

1. Cleaning and/or repairs not authorized by Us or performed by a repair facility that the Administrator did not authorize.

9. Damage caused by accident, road hazards not specifically listed, abuse, vandalism, fire, flood, wind, acids, dyes, paints, bleach, inks, gum, tar, nail polish, burns, corrosive chemicals, materials or liquids with caustic usage warnings(including insect repellant), petroleum products, rust and/or corrosion, hail, stone or sand chipping, abrasion, clearcoat or paint flaking or paint chipping; or modifications or alterations of the
factory’s original painted finish(i.e. repainted surfaces, aftermarket pin striping, etc.).

Notice cleaning is not allowed, so it might be interpreted that if you wash your car, you void your warranty, although that clause may also refer to the interior protection. I'd bet dollars to donuts that Opti-Coat is NOT "the same thing" and that OC will far, far, far outlast and out-perform Quantum-Shield.

However, the topic of this thread is Opti-Seal, which may perform comparably to Quantum-Shield, and it's a lot cheaper than Quantum-Shield, which I saw you can buy on eBay right now for $300, so go for it if that's what you want.

Sorry found the answers in another thread...new and don't know how to delete this message.

Thanks for your response. I thought all dealer paint protectants were junk...I didn't want it when I bought it but the only way the dealer would sell me the car. They were the only ones that had the car I wanted. That being said. The video I saw it was put on just like opti coat. The reason I asked is mainly because for 18 months I didn't have as much as a fine scratch on the car. The stuff really worked. I ordered the opti-coat 2.0 last night. I hope it works as well as what was on there I'll be extremely happy...if it's better...better yet. Thanks again.

Arguably any wax or sealant will give you better dirt release which will assist in reducing wash-induced marring, everything else being equal. If the Quantum-Shield lasted 18 months, that's pretty good, but I'm guessing your car is a garage queen that didn't spend 18 months sitting outside under a tree.
