Optimum Poli-Seal

I've been thinking about the concept of not wiping off the poli-seal. The part I can't get past is how do you know if the defects are really gone and not just covered by the product's residue? Also, would this affect the bonding of any lsp that you would put over it?

Ok so now I am confused. So to clear it up and spell it out for a simpleton like my self, POLI-SEAL you buff on and DO NOT wipe off just like OPTISEAL? Or do you have to wipe OFF PoliSeal? Please forgive me simple mind and lack of reading comprehension.

Poli-seal - the P stands for Polish in my eyes to help me out. You use it like a polish. Sometimes you need to wipe it off, but there are times where there is no residue left. Poli-seal removes minor scratches as well as leaves a small amount of protection.

Opti-seal - O stand for On the pain. This is a spray wax type product. You just spray it one and then use a foam/mf applicator to spread the product. No need to wipe off. This product is a wax/sealant/protectant.

I think the confusion is that I ended up using the poli-seal in a manner inconsistent with it's labeling. The label specifies to wipe it off, however, I found that to be completely unnecessary on the paint I was working with.

Thanks guys, I'm ordering some tonight. I usually use D151 but I'm interested to see how this works....

Hmm, interesting. I've never used or even thought about using PS as a "wipe on and walk away" product. Might have to try that. Using OS is a breeze; maybe using PS in that fashion will be just as easy.

If using by hand it will need to be wiped off. But using with a machine you 'could' work it till it disappears. I usually stop short of that, and wipe it off. Ultimately its a fool proof product and is very versatile and will not bite you if you use it incorrectly. If you wipe it off early you will not be left with haze. if you buff till dry it will still work as planned. either way its super easy to use.

It sounds like you have some experience working with PS, I am curious as to your experience. I barely made it 3 passes before it was totally gone, so I don't think I was over working it, maybe just something to do with the paint I was working on. I was using a primed pad and 3 pea sized dots of product which gave good coverage on a 2x2 area initially.

So a fully primed pad and 3 pea sized dots on a 2X2 area with 3 passes and it was totally gone? Unbelieveable! How much product do you use for the next panels?

I then cleaned the pad with a nylon brush and put 3 more pea sized dots of product on the pad and went to the next section. A week later and it still looks fantastic. I washed and stripped it today and put on oc2.0. A friend borrowed my camera so no pics yet.

Excellent review :xyxthumbs:

For my DD I've been looking for an AIO and this sounds like the ticket. I'll place some on order. You are welcome to come to Cedar Rapids to help :).

Is it less aggressive than PO85RD or any other jeweling polish? Anyone. Thanks.

IME it is able to take out light swirling, so I consider it to be slightly more aggressive than PO85RD, though it leaves a fantastic finish like a finishing polish.

Is it safe to say that it won't take too much clearcoat if I use it four times a year for 5 years on 3-4 passes on a white LC flat pad and light pressure?

Thanks Bill.

Yeah Bill, you're safe. PS has very, very minor cutting ability.

I will be applying this with my PC, with an orange or white pad.

Any input on speed? I was thinking 3 or 4, anythingfaster than that may break it down too quickly.

Thanks for the great thread, everyone!

I'd go 5. IMO you won't get a nice correction at 3 or 4.
