Optimum Polish Vs. Menzerna polish !?? The war is on!

Hey guys,

since tthere's some Optimum polishes on BOGO and they both sell for the same price. I'm wondering which one you would choose ?

The only experience so far I have with Optimum is Poli-seal and it REALLY WORKS but it's not really a correction polish. it's ease of use is wonderful ( almost no need to buff!) and I LOVE the smell. but how about the rest of the line?

As for menzerna, I have a gallon of powergloss and a gallon of Intensive polish. I then have 48oz of SIP and 48oz of Final polish. (Seriously, I can't justify the difference in price between Intensive polish and SIP..)

I don't understand the war portion but one thing Chris@Optimum mentioned that has my attention, you can mix 70% Poli-Seal with 30% Polish II for an AIO with nice cut. So I will be picking up a bottle of both products soon. At this time I only have PO85RD and Power Finish from Menzerna.
 
I have not used any Optimum products except for Poli-Seal (just the other day), but I have been very happy with my Menzerna line (power gloss, SIP, Nano Polish, and Power Finish). I plan to add PO85RD to my line up this spring.
 
Well the war is because a lot of people here swear by optimum for the best bang for the buck and on the side, you have Menzerna which might be considered the BEST OF ALL TIMES polish..

You know what I mean. The "this is the best and only product that should be used" people. I use them too, along with many other polishes in me arsenal.
 
For me,

I found poorboys to be essential if you work ''on the run'' and work under the sun. for this reason, I will always have a bottle of SSR2 and SSR2.5 in my arsenal.

then I tried meguiars speed cut M95 ( didn't work as good as powergloss) and D151 ( awsome one-step on light-colored car but I always seems to attract holograms on dark-colored car!!). So, I'm 50/50 with Megs.

Optimum: well, only product I tried is Poli-seal and it's a great performer but as a one-step, I prefer D151 which have more cut. but still a very good polish for the cost! ( just like D151 actually!)

Menzerna: I know when I use Intensive polish with an orange pad on dark-colored, I almost ( 95% times) never get hologram on dark-colored. This is a big + since I don't have to worry about finishing up with another polish or leave holograms on my customer car ( you know when you work in a garage because it's raining and the next day, the customer to call you that his car look like a rainbow) Sometimes it's just very hard to find hologram in a garage..
 
I haven't tried anything from OPT, but I don't think you can be a good detailer if you only use one or two polishes. I'm not saying you have to have one of everything, but I don't think that 2 polishes will ever be perfect for everything. I love 105 and 205, but I also use SIP 106fa, and 85rd all the time.

I agree. Like you said, you dont need to have everything, but it is good to have a wide variety of polishes for all the different paint that you may come across.

Agreed. I've got a wall filled with different polishes, compounds, sealants, etc. I use different ones for different reasons. Depends what I feel would work best.:buffing:
 
I mainly use Meguiars for my polishes. Affordable, work in the sun, good price, phenomenal results!

I work out of a shop mainly. But I did take notice that Meguiars products do seem to work really well in the sun. Where other products usually dry up, somehow Meguiars tends to stay lubricated.

One product I absolutely love from Meguiars is their oxidation remover for fiberglass. There's nothing better for fiberglass work in the sun. Stuff is awesome.

I have a bunch of Menzerna, and love it, but lately I've been reaching for the Optimum line. They're both very good/reputable companies with excellent products!

Why do you reach for the Optimum? What characteristic do you like best?
 
It's always unfortunate when threads like this come about -- there's no need to have a "war" between or over products when each one has strengths and weaknesses that lend themselves to different situations.

Personally, I keep a number of product lines on hand for exactly that reason. In my arsenal are Meguiar's DAT and SMAT lines (80, 83, 85, 105, 205) their original "old school" compounds/polishes (M01, M02, M09), pure polishes (M03, M05, M07), Optimum Hyper Polish and Hyper Compound (sprays), Menzerna SIP, 106FA, PO85RD, and the 3M Perfect-It III line-up including Ultrafina SE.

Amazingly enough, I actually do find uses for all of them.

No "war" should be started over what polish is better. Different products for different situations. Couldn't agree more!
