Optimum Power Clean for bug removal - Did it strip the wax?

It depends on the concentration you've used... What was it?

Do a beading/sheeting test to check if the wax is there or not.

@bmwgalore: It was a 3:1 (3 parts water, 1 part OPC).

The beading/sheeting test is a good idea. Thanks.

OPC 3:1 works great on bugs. If you use it, I would reapply on the sections.

You can use more LSP friendly options: PB's Bug Squash, Duragloss Bug Remover, or even a waterless wash and some patience.

I would say with a good degree of certainty that you will need to re-apply wax or sealant. 3 to 1 of powerclean is pretty stout.

I use it 3:1 or 5:1 on the front end of my car for bugs, and if you dont agitate it, it does not strip durable sealants like blackfire or Menzerna or Wolfgang. (it may shorten the lifespan though)

If you agitate it , its a different story.

For traditional Carnuba wax's, I would not trust it at all at stripping a large portion of the wax even without agitation.

If you want a bug remover that will not strip carnuba wax, I would stick with 1z anti-insect.

1Z Einszett Anti-Insekt Pre-Cleaner
