I like to stay with a product that I like and I do like Pinnacle Crystal Mist. Yet I have heard a lot of good things about the Optimum QD. I am sure both have their benefits. Since I use Pinnacle Soverign I have used the Crystal mist to maintain the carnuba look but do find that the car is a pollen and dust magnet and have considered Optimum as an alternative.

Will Optimum maintain my carnuba look ?

Can anyone compare and contrast the two quick detailers?

I used the Optimum this past weekend for the first time. Used it over Souveran.....LOVED IT!!!! Pretty sure it's one of the top dogs in the QD world now.

Definetly added a slickness and enhanced the gloss....Pinnacle works well too though.

I just prefer the Optimum!!

Is Crystal Mist really a QD? Does it have any cleaning ability? Is it lubricated enough not to scratch if you have dust on the car like a real QD?

So You can use Pinnacle to wax then use QD instead of Crystal Mist to maintain that Carnuba.

Crystal Mist is now a quick detailer and has very light cleaning ability. Souveran Spray Wax took its place originally a gloss enhancer and spray detailer. Optimum is a nice product on both waxes and sealants. You will feel and see the difference ....

The real question is will the Optimum reduce the attraction to pollen and dust that occurs when I use Souveran wax ? That is what I am looking for, something to reduce that attraction without loosing the Souveran appearance. If not Optimum, then what if anything will work ? My car is black until I drive it and then it is covered in yellow pollen.

I'm afraid that I don't have much to add to your question or answers...

This thread, with no disrespect intended to anyone, is an example of how great (or not) forums can be. You've asked a question, and you've received answers that would lead one to conclude that Optimum QD is better than Crystal Mist. Alas, you didn't get an answer to your question; rather an evaluation of one product verses another from the appearance perspective. I don't think anyone addressed the appearance after driving a few hundred miles, or even after letting the car set in the driveway for a few hours.

I'm thinking that neither product will excel at repelling pollen and dust; I've not used both, so I can't tell you. I know that I can Crystal Mist 3 sections of my car, and by the time I'm done with the third section, the first section has attracted dust. I theorize that the process of applying any wax introduces static electricity to the vehicle's shell, which will attract dust and pollen.

On the other hand, there are various interior finishing products that purport to reduce dust attraction; my theory here is that these really aren't waxes of any sort, but I don't have a theory as to what they really are.

Again, allow me to say that no disrespect is intended to anyone! I've just been frustrated in the past by asking questions and not getting responses that address the questions asked... I feel your pain!

after waxing with sourveran man does the black just attack dust and pollen. Would like an answer which detailer is better. Thanks in advance.

I really don't think that there's any product out there that will repel pollen. If you take a close look at pollen, it has little "spurs" (if you will) that help it hang onto whatever it lands on. Pollen is just the nature of springtime and it's something we have to learn to deal with. I know, with our compulsive nature it's a hard thing to have to accept, but pollen will happen whether we like it or not.

Take a look at this pic:

I would love this pollen to go away. Its alot of work that is for sure. I am going to try the optimum QD.

I agree. I detailed my bike over the past two days and it's sitting in the garage all clean and shiny. As soon as I take it out for a ride, it'll change from red to green.

Ok well hopefully this can answer the original question....as always, I am not a pro detailer as many of these guys are.

After using Souveran paste wax as the LSP on my Firehawk, I noticed the usual dust magnet had turned on.

After applying the Optimum QD, I did notice a decrease in the amount of dust that seemed to be attracted to the body. Now I have no evidence as in a 50/50 to prove any hard evidence...but to me it just seemed less dusty after sitting outside for two nights than before after application of the Optimum QD.

OID and FK425 are the best QD's I've used and reducing dust accumulation on a nuba or a sealant. Nothing will repel pollen.

Hawk - did optimum qd enhance anything or decrease anyhting of the souveran?
