Optimum makes two tire dressings and I was wondering what the difference is between their Tire Shine and Opti-Bond?

Looks like Opti-Bond can be diluted and used in sprayers, but which is better?

i use optimum tire shine!!!! its the best!!!. sorry i never used optibond. but from pics ive seen im not crazy about the results to matt of a shine for me ...

I currently have opti-bond and use it diluted 1:1 in a sprayer. UPS is scheduled to drop off optimum tire shine today. I will do a comparison and report back.

Definitely looking forward to your findings! :dblthumb2:

I wonder if Tire Shine is just Opti-Bond pre-diluted.

Thanks for the replies...look forward to 07-Z-oh-6 review.

How do you like the sprayer? I just ordered one but haven't received it yet. I haven't seen any reviews on it.

What sprayer are you using?

I'm using sams club chemical resistant spray bottles(comes with sprayers). Diluted 1:1, opti-bond sprays with no problem at all.

I received the tire shine today. Tomorrow I will clean a tire on my Acura, and do a 50-50 opti-bond and tire shine. It won't be a CEE DOG review, but I will post pics.

Mindflux, I asked Dr. G if tire shine is a diluted version of opti-bond, he said no, it's a different formula.

Are you talking about the optimum compressed air sprayer? I'm using a normal spray bottle spray head.

I've decided I'm going to do a NON diluted opti-bond vs. optimum tire shine.

Yea I was talking about the fancy one! I ordered it so I guess I will have to do a write up!

I just recieved it however it is raining here today! Never fails....I do have a detail scheduled for thursday so I will clean my trailer before hand and try it out on the trailer tires and then the customer tires as well!

Ok guys, I'm not starting a different thread because I don't consider this a review, just a quick pic. Tire was cleaned with optimum power clean(undiluted) and tire scrub brush. Tire shine on the left, opti bond(undilted) on the right. Picture was taken 10-15 mintues after application(cobra tire dressing foam pad). I see no discernible difference. Picture was taken with my new HTC Sprint EVO 4G, 8 megapixel camera. Any advice as far as lighting and how I could take a better picture, please let me know.

Was one easier to apply if they look the same?

I'll be interested in longevity as I've been using the Opti-Bond as a cream since January. I was able to go 2-4 car washes without reapplying but we don't get much rain here. I just bought a little spray bottle to try the 1:1 dilution but I tore up my left shoulder and no car is getting washed right now. :(

Thanks!

Gotta few questions about Opti-Bond and didn't feel like starting a new thread. I just ordered some from eShine since they had the 32 oz bottle on sale for $5 off. All of the tire dressings I've used have been either sprays or foams with the exception of Meg's Endurance Gel which had to be applied with a foam applicator and was a major PITA to get the product into all of the little grooves on the tire sidewall.

On to the questions:

1a. Is there any difference to the look and durability of applying it with a foam applicator vs. diluting it and using a spray bottle?

1b. What's the easier of the two methods of application?

2. If I were to use a foam applicator, how much should I use per tire?

3. Do I have to do any wiping or buffing after it's applied?

4. Is this a tires-only product or can it be used effectively on other areas of the car?

I put my optibond in a squeeze bottle and just squeeze some on my applicator foam prior to apply. Not much different that spray bottle in which I'd spray the applicator foam. Don't like spraying right on the tire unless they're beefy ones to avoid overspray. I'd still recommend a quick wipedown after it's had a chance to get in the rubber, with both products.
