Optimums Opti-Coat

I like to final dry with a guzzler and spray and noticed even Z6 streaks over this coating. Anyone find something nice, glossy, and no streaking upon use ??? Perhaps Duragloss Wipe/Clean or something similar like Fk146 ???

Well, I can't help you with Opti-Coat since I've never experienced it, but Z6 is one of the streakier QD's IMO/IME because it's so "concentrated". I know a lot of people cut it with distilled water. And if you're talking about the DG FC&S, that's pretty much Z6 anyway as far as I'm concerned, maybe already cut a bit.

I've also found detail sprays to streak with the coating. Seems like it just repels them and leaves a streaky mess in the surface.

Just finished coating a 2010 black Tahoe today. I coated all paint, glass, trim and wheels. Only used about 15-20cc this time. Would have been less but the stupid plunger gets sticky and I ended up wasting a little.

Well washed up the daily driver this morning and even the wife has noticed the difference in this coating system. I used Zaino's soap and wife asked why the soap and foam seem to slip off the car. It actually "seems" to be working better now a month after application. Its still very reflective and crisp looking not plastic at all but missing the warmth and depth of traditional waxes.

I did use Megs Ultimate Detailer this morning and found no streaking and helped remove any spotting after using leaf blower. I washed the truck also this morning and noted how much easier it was to blow off excess water on the coating system vs. traditional sealant.

I only wish I would have done all glass with the coating. It appears my Aquapel is giving out after about 3 months and really would have been nice not to have to do anything more than washes for coming months.

The next two weeks washes (last Saturday and the previous one) went off without a hitch. Still havent found the best detail spray but Megs seems to work ok especially outside of direct heat. I love how easily the water blows off. Still going strong and just as reflective as the application around 6 weeks ago.

I really like that you are remembering to keep us posted. Thanks! As far as your detailer, try misting OID or another onto your drying towel, lay the towel fully open on the paint, pat the towel without moving it across the surface, then lift it away. This method has worked well for me while I have had OC on my Altima (3years now). use a 2ft x 3ft WW MF for this and only mist detailer on each side one time for the whole car.

I find ONR is still the best approach with this coating. AW works well for me but the best I have found with it is the ReLoad spray sealant. It boosts the coating and does not streak for me. I use very little and spread it around well and buff with the softest mf you have (which I know you might have one or two, LOL). Hope that helps.

I am quite anxious to try ReLoad...

I am quite anxious to try ReLoad...

I did a jet ski with OC this week and it was not slick at all. Even after curing for a whole day. I applied ReLoad to it and it was slick as eel snot. I love that stuff. AG would be wise to look at carrying the CQ line in my humble opinion.

I ordered ReLoad this past week, and excited to try product.

I did find with OC that more slickness was noted after some time (around first wash) versus initially, but never UPP slick by any means. Using Megs UQD on it adds to it and made the beads quite small and tight but some streaking is still noted.

On wash yesterday nothing was different. I think I am around week 7+ now and still going strong. This product is certainly a great option for those looking to add it and forget it. Its rather interesting and cool to note that even soap doesnt want to stay on finish and even wife has asked why the soap "falls" off the paint this way. It just slips/runs off rather easily.

I just have to admit I am getting the yearning to apply something. Guess I need to pull the Vette outside or wifes truck where DP Poli-coat is still running quite strong too.

Well I got to try ReLoad this weekend after washing and while I want to like it (certainly at that price point for how small a bottle it is) but I havent noted anything super special. It did not streak, or add noticable gloss. Paint looked quite bright and reflective but didnt "seem" different than prior. It has a slight metallic smell but other than that didnt really feel super slick either, kinda like distilled water. It did rain last night and the car beaded nice and tight this morning, but I thought the product was more about sheeting ?? Gotta play with it more ...

Anyone else using this combo or found another option to use with Opti-Coat ??

Now fellas, the less you touch the paint...the better, right? Stop rubbing the paint and save it for the little woman. Opti Coat isn't there for feel, but for protection and repelling contaminants. I've had it on my ride for 3 years and it's still going strong, but its never felt slick...just looks slick. ;)

I'd have to agree.

As much as I want to use a QD for a drying aid, it seems best to just sit back and let the coating do it's work. While I wish it did have the BFWD slickness to it, OC has still by far exceeded my expectations. Almost 5 months and at least 15 touch-less washes, it's still beading/sheeting like day one. :props:

That would be fine if they were the only horse in the race, but they're not. After using both OC and CQ, my preference is for CQ. Having said that, they are both excellent products.

I got CQ & Reload last week, I will try it after I polish the Gray one.

The application seems to be easier than OOC from what Ive read. Would like to read your thoughts.

I was going to invest in this to try it on.

From all the comments etc. it seems pretty hard stuff.

I wanted to know whether it can resist minor scratches/micro-marring or not?(basically the micro-marring caused by a car cover and occasional brush with clothes other than microfibers)

This product is so promising... I do hope that it becomes more available in the near future... and not only in the States.
Great review, keep us updated!

It will mar but your clearcoat wont. You can polish it off and reapply as needed.

^Now thats awesome!!

The paint then literally become scratch proof!!
(Scratch on opti-coat > polish off > reapply)

Super awesome! :D

I'll get around to using the CQuartz one day Richy. Just need to find the time to prep the wife's car, which needs a fair amount of polishing. ;)

I'm considering doing the car with half OC and half CQuartz....

EDIT: LMAO! The wife says a firm NO to that test! :D
