i AGREE 100%. If I do the Ford, I wont top it with anything but Reload. I only use a sealant on her now. UPGP usually.

unfortunately you wont find any better looks using Reload over Opticoat. Complete waste of funds unfortunately.
 
Since Dr. G said that Opti-coat is a clearcoat/like a clearcoat.

I guess we can keep adding it to increase the paint thickness which'll give more paint for us to polish and work with. :D

Also, scratch resistance is claimed to be 50% better than normal clearcoats which is freakin awesome! :D

I wish I could have my car coated with this!

Exactly. I hate the idea that, because I live in Poland, I not only don't have a chance to use it myself since I'm not a pro detailer, but I don't have a chance to have it on my car at all, because nobody uses it here. Not only in my city, but in the entire country.

Have you looked into CQuartz or any of the other nano coatings?
 
Yes, I have, and if Opti-coat will still remain out of my range when winter ends (February I guess), I will do a full correction on my car and use CQuartz. I've read about it, I've seen movies about it, and I think it's not only a great alternative, but a great product overall.
Still, with this Opti-coat hype going on here, I regret I don't have the opportunity to try it.
 
Update:

Well I have been using Pinnacles Crystal Mist over Opti-coat with great results for past three washes. It looks better (likely the carnauba in spray-- I still prefer the look of waxes over sealants) and seems to bead really cool beads yet everything still washes off the surface easily and coating appears to still be there too ultimately protecting the surface.

So I would guess that it isn't sheeting water as well as it would without the CM?

It never sheeted that well after I started playing with all the sprays in hopes of better looks. Opti-coat needs more gloss IMO, it just seems to have that sealant look (not plastic, but reflective and somewhat bright) on black specifically.

After using Megs QD, Zaino Z6, Reload, Einszett Lackfinish, and now CM it beads like crazy. But the inherent protection still "seems" to be there. Nothing sticks to it , kinda hard to describe, but even dirt and wash water love to fall off. Its cool to see the foam gun even with super foamy soap fall right to the ground. I dont believe the sprays stay long at all (perhaps just sitting on top of Opti-coat) but I prefer the wetter look of a carnauba on top of it even if it needs replacement each wash session. Im just glad it doesnt seem to streak either. (my main challenge using any spray over Opti-coat)

This idea of adding extra coats or layers of Opti-Coat is incorrect because Opti-Coat, once cured, rejects itself. If one wishes to add a layer it would have to be done so within 30 to 45 minutes of the first application.

Is there a way to remove OC without polishing?

Anthony, I often wondered if Prepsol , Acrysol and/or 3M's Wax and Adhesive Remover would even dent it ???
