Optimums Opti-Coat

While this isn't OC, there was a video shown on DW where they took some cured CQuartz and placed it in a beaker with some kerosene to show that it's unaffected by solvents....from my understanding OC is the same....Chris, a test like this would be good for OC too. :)

CQuartz anti solvents test - Detailing World

I just hope Dr. G will make a specific booster spray for Opti-coat. This coating rocks and would love to see something designed for it with gloss and good looks like the Quick Detailer offers.

You mean kind of like Cquartz ReLoad? Though that's not really a "spray" in the sense you're describing.

exactly ... although I was not anamoured with the original Reload. I am working thru Avi to hopefully try the newer version with better results. I would also love to see an Optimum version.

An Optimum product like Reload would be awesome. G|techniq C2 is a similar product to Reload from what I gather, but i think it is a stand-alone product more so than ReLoad.

Isnt that one actually carnauba based ??? Its another line on my short list to try.

We have been working very hard to bring a version of Opti Coat to the consumer market and the wait is almost over. Stay tuned for more information over the next few weeks.

Wow, that's certainly some interesting news, although I'm going to have to guess that the consumer version will be to Opti-Coat as C2 is to C1 in the GTechniq line.

Excellent. After I get a little practice with polishing, etc I'm very interested in these "super sealants" for our DD's. With Optimum originally wanting to keep this as a special for the pro detailers, thought I would have to go the CQuartz route.

No it isnt nuba based. You are thinking of C3 Smart Wax. C3 is temporarily off the market pending reformulation. I want to apply C2 to the XLR as soon as we have warmer nights. I want to make sure it cures well.

Very cool Chris. I would assume the pro version offers better durability and over all performance, no?

I can't imagine putting OC in the hands of the masses if the application is the same.

OMG!! Cant wait for it to go on retail!! :D

I really need some dependable paint protection!!

Agreed. I'll still be going for the pro version for my personal vehicles this spring.

If thats the case I'll be using CQuartz.

The liability of putting the current OC in the hand of the public are to great IMO. I've literally seen someone who used almost a full tin of paste wax on a car before in one waxing session....simply because he thought that was how it was supposed to be done. While most of the people on AG can handle the OC application, all it takes is one person to mess up, which wouldn't be long and in no time we'd be seeing "HELP" threads all over the forums.

CQuarts and the rest of the coatings fall in the same boat IMO. They simply are not ready for the average consumer yet.

Just my $02 and I've applied OC, CQ and C1 now.

Without even trying it? It's application isn't rocket science and in reality it's super easy to use once you use it. I'm confident that if I demo'd it on 1 panel you'd be as good as the next guy.

No No No David I would much rather use Opticoat. I am not a professional and if the public version is less capable/durable I would think twice about using it. This is what happens when we "Assume" things. I have confidence in my ability to apply it, just not available to me.

All that being said, I am now gonna shut up and wait for an announcement from Optimum.

The difference being CQuartz is available to me. While I understand the reasons for not releasing OC to the average consumer a lot of us here are not average consumers and would like to apply OC to our personal cars.
