OTC Fabric Guard?

Not sure if there is the correct place to put this, but I am sorta in a pinch, and was looking to see if there was a sort of OTC fabric guard sorta like GTechniq I1 or anything like that. Basically something to waterproof fabric. I have a non waterproof car cover that I am interested in seeing if I can waterproof it before the snow hits Friday...

I did find this at HD, but not sure how good it is. Scotchgard 14 oz. Fabric and Upholstery Protector-4106D-14PDQ - The Home Depot

He said he needed something ASAP as snow was on the horizon. As good as AG is, he's probably not gonna get the product in under a day, so he needed ideas he could get locally. Is that rule really being enforced to that degree now, or are people just making it out to be worse? I never read that whole huge thread about it, so just curious.

On a similar note, what do you guys use for fabric protectant that's not OTC? I've used Scotchgard before when needed, but curious if there's anything that ya'll would recommend specifically, or is Scotchgard or 303 pretty much the best out there?

I've been happy with GTechniq I1. Just ordered some more last month.
Couple of months ago, went to pick up what I thought was a piece of clear plastic off the rug in the car.
Instead it was a large drop of water that wasn't being absorbed by the fibers.
Should have driven the car to see if that drop would have rolled around. Ha. :D
 
When I've been in a similar pinch as the OP:
I've used several OTC fabric cleaners/protectors...
even some that were labeled Blue Magic.

I just followed the "as listed" directions.

I was just checking 303's site for where to buy and they list NAPA and Gander Mountain but I'm sure it depends on the individual store to stock it. $30.00 at Gander and $17.00 at Napa. I think I'll try Napa!!:)
 
Anyone ever try Scotchguard on top of 303? I ask because I used 303 Fabric Guard on a customers car. She got whiteout on the seat and said it was really hard to get out. Read that Scotchguard repels liquids better but 303 lasts longer and has better stain protection. Perhaps using one on top of the other would take the best of both?
 
I dont expect the Scotchgard to actually do much of anything with a few inches of snow on top of it, but at least it will repel the initial snow. I need to get it on the cover and give it time to cure. Got less than 24 til it starts snowing.
