OTC Tire Cleaner

I used Wesleys Bleach White for years and it's still widely available. It does a decent job and is reasonably priced...:props:

Mothers also makes some great products and is available at most retail stores....Where automotive supplies are sold...

Mothers foaming cleaner is my go to product. available almost every where.

Another one for Westleys and Purple Power (diluted). I am thinking maybe the blooming from the tires is drawn up from something contained chemical wise in the Megs Endurance?

I'm not a big fan of the Mothers foaming wheel cleaner. It cleans tires "O K" and wheels pretty good, but for $6 you'd have to use over half a bottle to get adequate coverage.

I found that if you spray in a sweeping motion you get more coverage with less product.

for OTC tire cleaner I have used westley's , at less than $8 a gallon works well and cheap . for dual purpose , eagle one a2z works great but IMO it's a little too costly . I think just under $5 for like 23oz . both these products give off some good fumes.

Eagle One is often on sale for 2 for $7.00 at AA, AZ, Napa, and Oreilly's.

On my own wheels I found many years ago that many of the so called dressing/tire shines end up leaving this brown goop on the tires. Sure they look sweet for awhile, but when it comes time to clean them that's where most of the products I tried failed. I also found that it's a way for some to get by without a perfectly clean tire...they mask it with a shine product...and it will mask it to a degree. Even Westley's Bleach White would have to be used sometimes. So, I quit putting that tire shine junk on my tires...and I used quality stuff...at least the stuff we had back then and some of it being Meguire's dressings. I just got to the point it was too much work and rather than have a lot of shine with a bit of brown I opted for not shine and a whole lot of black. I quit the dressings, didn't have to worry about the brown stains, and going over the tires 2-3 times to get them jet black clean became a thing of the past. Once they're clean and free of tire dressing, I simply spray 1 application of Westley's Bleach White on the tires at each washing and they're clean, jet black, and easy to clean each time I wash. Sure they get brown from dust, but it's not the same as the brown staining you get which doesn't come off as easily.

That said, I'm still not sure I want to dish out the green backs for Ultima trim stuff or Wolfgang stuff just to see if it works. No doubt it lasts, but I want to know if it allows the tires to get stained brown. If those products get the stains, they're not for me. I'd rather not deal a all with brown stains. I can get dry brown dirt off easily without using tire dressings, which I've never been a fan of regardless of what kind of car.

Some people think a car isn't detailed unless the tires are dressed. That's some's opinion and they're entitled to do what they like. I'll do the same. I'd 10 to 1 rather look at clean jet black tire without that chincy look to it. Sure, if a customer likes it and wants it, that's what they get. On my own cars forgedaboudit.

...There's a reason it's America's best selling OTC tire cleaner...it works.:dblthumb2: Works great on rubber bed liners too.

Are you meaning the spray in type (LineX type)?

No. I can't verify it works on spray in liners, but it would be worth a test spot for certain. Compare that to a test spot of Meguire's #39 as well. If they clean the same, go with the bleach white from whestley's as it's cheaper.

I can verify that it cleans throw in rubber bed liners (removable kind) superbly. Just spray on a dry bed liner (taking care to cover well), mist with a small amount of water (just enought to help dampen the liner a tad more), and a good stiff garage broom. Why clean it bending over with a short brush when you can clean standing up. Right?

Never heard of Brown Royale. Where can it be purchased?

Avoid using it on sprayed in liners! The only thing that should be used on them is soap and water as it will cause chalking and UV coat break down...

yes I have seen that before or even a mix it up any 2 products for $7 ?

Yes you can mix and match with any Eagle one product, thats when i would get it cause it seemed smarter..:dblthumb2:
Yes it does have a strong smell to it, but nothing a tshirt over the nose wont help.:xyxthumbs:

Hi,

I'm looking for a good OTC tire cleaner....
A wheel + tire cleaner combo would be a plus. The wheels are clear coated alloys.

Thanks.

Depends on the "counter". :)
I go to one my local H-D dealerships to purchase S100 products over their counter...especially during one of their sales events.

Even though Westley's Bleche-Wite has recently been reformulated, it contains some "nasty" stuff. Make sure you read the directions for usage, and what to avoid getting it on when using. (Instead of spraying it directly on the tires, you can put some on a sponge/cloth/rag and then, after some dwell time, wipe it off to avoid unneeded overspray.)

As usual, the lawyers for most products' manufacturers/retailers have had them to include many, many precautions on the products labels, MSDS, and ingedients lists. Some should be given serious considerations; others are almost incredulous.

I'd like to add to the warnings already on Westley's Bleche-Wite's label:

1. Not be used as a teeth whitener
2. Not to be used as a mouthwash/breath-freshner
3. Has shown to be non-effective towards the relief so saught after by: The sufferers of hemorrhoidal pains

:D

I wasn't aware that westleys had been reformulated, but I did find via a search on google that Black Magic now sells the product, so they must have purchased the rights. The label has changed slightly, but there's plenty of the original stuff in autoparts stores around me.

It does say to use the product on a dry tire like I said, which I found by trial and error, but I was always carefull about getting it on any rims.

It's now sold under the name Black Magic's bleeche-white.

Due to VOC compliance, among other reasons, Westley's Bleche-Wite and so many other products, are sometimes re-formulated. Professional products are a more regulated industry than the enthusiast/consumer ones. Westley's B-W is still a very potent product, and it works. But, IMO, prudent usage of this product should still be followed.

Actually, I believe Sopus Products, (a division of Shell Oil Co/Pennzoil/Quaker State), has Westley's, Black Magic, and many other brands under its umbrella. Westley's and Bleche-Wite are registered trademarks...Sopus is the distributer.....Black Magic is the vendor. Hard to keep up with the players sometimes.

As always, as you've stated, caution should be taken whenever one uses this and similar products. Common sense, IMO, dictates so!

I think I tried to use that number... all I got were 535 voicemail boxes of some worthless sacks of crap in Washington DC. Lawyers, politicians... of the same ilk. Shakespeare had a good idea, IMO...
