Hey got a quick intersting question that some veteran detailers may know. Got a GG polisher for xmas and the wife asked me can that thing be used for anything else but car paint??

I thought that's a good question...

What else have you guys used it for?

Feed back please

i'm wondering if you could polish marble or maybe a grand piano or something.

You can use a DA Polisher for different types of things, what can be accomplished depends upon the material or coating you're working on and what you're trying to do.

I've used a PC to remove water sprinkler spots off of household glass and sanding down an old desk for re-finishing.

I've seen others use it for polishing furniture but keep in mind most furniture has a lot of sharp edge and the paint will tend to be lacquer so it's soft, so be careful around edges and as usual, always do a test spot first.

I've also read of people cleaning things like shower stalls and even hot tubs. Basically anything that needs polishing that you could hand clean and polish you could use a DA Polisher, just match the pad type and pad size, with the right product for the task at hand.

:)

I just broke out mine and first thing I did was use my Griot's Garage Glass Polish, sunroof first and it did so nice I did the windshield next and it looks awsome, I did also put on Klasse Sealant on the windshield but it did not do nearly as nice as rain-x so when the rain stops again I will repolish the glass and put down rain-x.

I use my polisher to clean the ceramic shower tiles and glass - works well and tile looks great!

You can also buy attachments for the PC....brushes....that I use to clean the carpet (spots and stains) also great on floor mats and carpet cleaning for cars.

It started life as a sander and does a great job of that as Mike mentioned. I used the pad that came with it and some polish to make stainless sinks gleam better than new. That's the only use I ever found for that pad :idea:

I have used the pc and a 4 inch pad to polish the stainless prop on my bassboat. also used it to polish the fiberglass cowling and fenders on my brother boat. I use the DA to polish the lower section of the motor ,the trailer and the fenders on the trailer with an AIO as well since it can get cruddy easy. needless to say large bassboats are a lot of work to keep looking good. using the DA when possible sure saves more time for actually fishing. here are a couple of pics of my old Skeeter ( still kicing fine though ) and one of the cowling on my brothers motor ( if you look close you can see Mt Ranier on the right side above the ME in Mercury ) as already said I use it on glass windows, sunroofs, tailights and head lights.

Hi All;

In terms of Marble, Glass, and Tiles, what did everyone use for pads (er what color) and buffing/finishing products? Seems to me glass could be scratched if using a pad thats too aggresive. Tiles and marble are more resiliant.

For my mother-in-laws dull marble floor, I'm thinking of trying m105 with an orange pad. Not sure what to do for a finishing shine. Oh yeah, this would be using a Griot's Polisher.

TIA,
Kevin
