1. What was your first car?
1982 Toyota Corolla SR5 Fastback. It had 375,000 miles on it and I bought it for $350. The clutch was so bad that I actually had to get a running head-start to make it up hills or I wouldn't make it.
2. What is your favorite product line to work with?
So far, my favorite products have been my Optimum Products. From the compounds to the polishes, they all work fantastically and I never feel as though I need more, other than the occassional need for some M105.
3. How many waxes do you currently own?
I own 3 waxes at the moment (Griot's Garage Pure Carnauba Wax, Meg's Gold Class Carnauba Paste and Meg's NXT 2.0 liquid), but prefer sealants to waxes, though I will apply a nice carnauba over either Optimum Poli-Seal or Poorboys EX-P when I really want a paint job to pop.
4. What is your favorite part about the forum?
My absolute favorite part of the forum has got to be the people. The staff is extremely friendly and informative and the forum members are encouraging and helpful. I love coming to the forum and asking questions or using the search feature and getting an answer pretty much immediately. It's also pretty nice that all I have to do is click on the "Store" button and get taken to a place to buy my favorite products.
5. When detailing what step or part is your favorite?
My favorite part of detailing is applying and wiping off that first coat of sealant after spending all day prepping the surface. That's when all of the washing, claying, compounding, IPA wipe-downs and polishing show their true colors. There have been times when I wanted to quit working on a car because I wasn't sure how it was going to look when I was done, but when I put on that sealant...it lifts my spirits so high and my confidence returns. I get a buttery-smooth surface, crystal-clear reflections and the entire car looks as though it were dipped in crisco but bone-dry to the touch. I call it "The Payoff".
