Over/Under Hyped products?

OH: Just about everything...lol

UH DG 101
IW 845
and most under rated of all 4* UGE. Love this stuff it makes my white car look great but the black or colored cars look awesome.

Great thread for n00bs and those that don't have a lot of experience with all the products that AG offer. Personally, I'm glad that I haven't gotten to the point of even having an opinion about whether anything I've purchased has been OH'd or UH'd.

You are right ! I do not see where the UDM or Ultima are over hyped ?
Then again I may be stuck in the garage too much ;)

I think its over hyped because I dont think its much better then the PC. But its supposed to be the best machine. Just my opinion.

I personally don't think the UDM is overhyped at all. The improvements made vs. the PC is pretty significant in my experience, specifically in correcting ability/power and vibration reduction. I can get better results in less time, which to me is what it's all about.

Just my $.02...

I haven't seen it mentioned on this site at all really, I'd say that Mother's Reflections is pretty under-hyped.

You really think Pinnacle Products are overhyped? Used all three and all three performed THE BEST in its class. Maybe Griots garage is a little better bang for the buck, but I'm sure it's not as good as Pinnacle.

Best in class? says who? I've tested pinnacle products side by side and the tests I've done show that some of their products are nothing special, they dont suck, they just arent special. I think a lot of people will agree with me that a lot of pinnacle products are fluffed up.

The Pinnacle waxes are first rate offerings, and you wont find many that disagree. You will even find that most sealants want to "look" just like Pinnacle and keep it as there mark of the best of best carnaubas. I will not attack Griots, but try wiping it off, you will then realize why Pinnacle is rated so highly. I have found several that used it incorrectly and did not get the best results kinda like a product starting with a Z.

I don't know about the other products but I have Souveran and CG 5050 of which both waxes are hyped and they deliver on that hype, but hell, I have Natty's Blue as well and still love it lol.

Both are deep and wet..... Durability can be greatly improved on these 2 beauty waxes....

I've never liked Griot's, to me its close to OTC with Boutique pricing. However it was my first introduction to "higher end" products. I used to gasp at their pricing and wonder why people would spend money like that :o

Surfer ... when you going break out some $$ for Nattys red ???

I already have. But items like their BBS approved wheel cleaner for example works just as well as pinn. tire gel, i tested them may times side by side. Also their clay is way way bigger than any other clay i have seen, its a lot easier to hold so that you dont drop it, but it sticks to your hand so you have to wear gloves.

I dont like BIG clay. I like it when its precut small, like the ones from Canada that comes in 3 pieces. That way I can toss them when they get contaminated and not keep putting them back against the paint.

Get the Polishin Pal w the clay adapter, its awesome I love it. (Even though the first 2 I got broke instantly, Meghan sent me replacements but I have not tried the new ones yet)

I feel that Wheel cleaners are too similar. "no touch" wheel cleaners are too strong, and "safe" wheel cleaners still need scrubbing. I have tried a lot of wheel cleaners and I think that a sealant and soap and water is the best/cheapest bet.

what keeps the clay from just falling off the polishing pal?

It sticks damn well on the disk. The only problem with using the clay with the polishing pal is...

1. Its hard to remove the clay from the disk. Takes a good amount of time, its a pain. And you want to be kneading the clay frequently.

2. To solve this problem, I sprayed QD on the disk, then put the clay on. Problem with this is now the clay doesnt stay on the disk.

I used the polishing pal once or twice. Now Ive gone back to just using it with my hand. I do like the polishing pal for waxing, but thats it.

I have nothing in my mind that's over or underhyped, but here are my favorites in no particular order:

Guzzler
White/yellow Shmitt
DG 901
Poorboy's Super Slick and Suds
CG Citrus Wash
DP wheel gel cleaner
NTS7 rim cleaner (cheap and effective)
Wheel Shmitt
Pinnacle Signature Series II
Pete's 53
Meg's 16 (an easy on/off wax for me, thick or thin)
Grit Guards
Clay in general :D
Water hose (what can we do without this?)
Cobra Microfiber in general
Measuring cups for cough syrups
Stoner's invisible glass
Foam applicator pads
DP 4 in 1
Spray bottles

If I forgot something I'll add :D

I do the same thing and I think it's great. I even cut one of the 3 pieces in 2 with a scissor. I find that ~1 oz of clay for an average contaminated car is enough. After the car is done, if the clay is contaminated I throw it away. If it’s still good I put in another container and re-use it later for windows, metal or on body part that will contaminate the clay *alot*.

OH
Zaino (on every forum I have ever been on but this one)

UH
DP's entire line-especially MaxWax
DG
Poorboy's

Have you tried Pinnacle Souveran paste? If not, you won't understand the hype untill you try it. Easier application then SSII, or Paste Glaz; and it makes blacks glowing. You can compare it side by side with some high end Zymol waxes - Ital new formula ($384), Destiny ($518), Atlantique ($1,116); that is if you are willing to pay that much for those waxes. I really doubt that you will hardly see any difference. There are also Vintage ($1,973), and Royale ($7,583), which maybe will give you a little better look then Souveran paste. Are you willing to pay that much for a little bit?
Speaking of Souveran paste, try it on black that is fully prepped then you will see a difference. ;)
