P21s 100% Carnauba

I love the P21s 100%! One of my favourite waxes. It has the "it" factor that was talked about in the UPGP thread.

I like this wax, but it's a great dust collector also. I did my car the first of the week and right now its dusty, I have an asphalt drive to my house. It just grabs the dirt.

Unfortunately this is typical of most carnauba's.

I just applied a coat of this on my Jeep yesterday, and it says on the instructions that you can spread it to the whole car but it will be just a bit harder to remove, well, I wonder what would be a lot harder to remove, because the MF would not move at all, I ended up pulling out the 3401 with a MF bonnet in order to remove it...

After seen how hard it got, and me using the 3401 to remove it, I wonder if there was any wax left on the paint? Ether way, I will apply another coat later today... One section at the time...

Thanks for the reco.

There are so many options and I don't have the time to test them all. It's not that one is better than another, it's that "IT" is different between people, paint color, paint type, paint prep, and I would guess the size and shape of vehicles and maybe even weather too.

Then we start changing the way the LSP looks by the number of coats, overlayering waxes, detail sprays with gloss and anti-static properties, and car washes with gloss additives.

Holy Cow! Have we complicated it? I'm starting to ask myself, "WWMD (What would Mike do)?"

So what are your favs, why and what do you use it on?

Wow, I'm glad I read this now. Eventually I was going to order a small container of Supernatural and see how it looks as a topper over my usual stuff. Dust sticking to would really tick me off. Matter of fact I have been pretty happy with DP Wheel Glaze and wonder what it would look like as a topper. Not that I would try it, but just impressed with how much longer my wheels stay decent looking since I started using it.

I hope you don't mind me saying it but don't necessarily walk away from Supernatural because someone prefers a sealant. That "it" factor is personal and you might really like Supernatural as a topper (Just like you found with the DP Wheel Glaze).

Some of us prefer the look of a carnauba wax and are willing to put up with its maintenance requirements. Carnauba also has unique protective and potential flaw hiding qualities. I would dare say that a high percentage of Concourse show cars ONLY use a carnauba wax, even if some of the new sealants get pretty close to a nuba look.

Besides, a traditional carnauba wax like Supernatural should wear off pretty quickly with daily driving or you can remove it easily if you really don't like it. It's not like you're married to it.

I have Fuzion (a nuba) on my car right now and haven't washed it in 12 days. It doesn't seem to be a dust magnet.

(I heard that gasp from the peanut gallery, shush...)

Good point. I appreciate the input. Next time I place an order I will probably order some. All else fails, I will use it other peoples cars. Only reason I'm thinking supernatural is that they offer the small size and don't have to break the bank for a premium product.
It would be interesting to see if it adds depth to my already shiny and well sealed paint.

I prefer sealants, but I agree with Kurt!

I should also note that I have some Supernatural here, and I absolutely love the stuff! One of the best waxes I have used. I used it on a bright yellow car I had (which I sold a couple of months ago). Yellow was perfect for a high quality nuba because yellow does NOT show dust very easily (compared to colors like black or bright red).

Funny, I just made this very comment in another thread where I responded to one of your post (regarding how the new sealants have come a long way and are getting pretty close to the carnauba look).

Bottom line to me is if your are sensitive to dust accumulation and have a color that is prone to showing dust, I personally do not think that the minor improvement in appearance given by a carnauba is worth it. YMMV.

True. And Supernatural can be bought in the smaller trial size.

Fuzion isn't a pure nuba though (it's a hybrid).

I want to try it at some point. I recently read a post or two here talking about what a dust magnet it is though. Glad to hear a contrary view on that issue.

How does Fuzion compare to Supernatural?

I thnk that I prefer the minor improvements of a carnauba wax or a hybrid over a sealant alone. I am convinced that a sealant base is the way to go. Then top with a wax for added protection and a certain look.

I have not used Supernatural so I can't compare it to Fuzion. Maybe someday. I want to try Souveran paste first. More importantly, I want to settle on a long term sealant then look for synergy.

That's the holy grail that you are looking for, and it is part of what makes this hobby fun......but also frustrating at times!

It's supposed to be fun but bloody painful at times...

They are indeed different formulas. I never found the blue lid version great, but it beads so small and tight its rather cool. (likely due to the beeswax in it). The 100% (grey lid) is much wetter looking, alot like the Pinnacle pastes.

Thank you Scott!
Any input on longevity compared to the blue lid?

As I remember the blue lid is more durable. I remember many years ago when it won the Guru's Wax Test as the best carnuaba to date .

IMO, although a bit dated, both of the p21s waxes are excellent.

I find the blue lid (concours) version to be fairly durable and have a "self cleaning" effect.
