I am getting ready to detail my car and I am trying to figure out what I should use. All I have is M105 and P21S cleaner. The car has some VERY minor swirls (you have to be looking for them to see them). Would P21S cleaner be abrasive enough to get rid of them?

As far as I know, P21S does not have any abrasives (according to the various polish charts - Todd Helme's is excellent if you haven't seen it) and therefore would not remove swirls, however light they may be.

What it will do, though, is fill the swirls and make it appear as though you have removed them. It can be thought of as a glaze, more than a polish (as you'll see, in the detailing world, any word can really mean anything.)

A good fine polish will remove the swirls, but since you don't have one, if you were to use M105 on a finishing pad it may be light enough to come out nicely. Of course, you would need to do a test spot but short of purchasing a fine polish, I don't know if you'll be able to remove them. You can fill them, though, if that would work until you acquire a good finishing polish.

Hope this helps! Happy detailing!

Ah, okay not the news I was looking for.

Maybe my neighbor will let me use his WG finishing glaze.

This has been debated quite often over the years/~a decade, at the very least.
Hard to decide, from what I find to be such disparate information.

Here's something else to consider, IMO:

From its product description:
"This thick, rich cream is a brilliant choice for removing water and acid rain spotting, swirl marks, and minor surface imperfections"

If this above description is true/factual...Then:
Is the actual removal of swirl marks possible, without the use of abrasives of some sort or the other?

P21S PC, as I believe it to be true, doesn't have typical polish type abrasives. However , it does have kaolin clay in it. Wether the clay is there to fill light defects or gently "abrade" contaminants away from paint ( or both), is I believe a trade secret.

However, you can use this product with foam with full confidence it will not mar your paint. I've been using it off and on for years.

I am going to order a polish so I don't have to keep borrowing from my neigbor.

Would Sonax Perfect finish polish be good for a long term polish? Or would it just fill?

Are you using a rotary?
