I'm in PA also. Maybe you could do a video on waterless wash. :xyxthumbs:

yea, headed out right now to do a full detail.......

the coldest its been in the last 20 years for this area!

I don't envy you guys. Lol
It's 22 here now in Louisiana, I'm sure you guys could do a full wash this warm:)

Yeah it is pretty brutal out right now. I had to put fuel in the TDI this morning on my way to work, and didn't put my gloves on to pump it. My hands were hurting already in just the short time I was out to pump the fuel. I'm ready for spring!

Well it's getting warm now - we are up to 1°. It's only "feels like" -20°.

Seems we (in southern Minnesota) are getting the backside of this critter.

Yesterday morn was -27°F got up the a minus 11, all that coupled with a 30+MPH wind from the northwest gave a wind chill of about -50.

Now this morning, my magic gizmo on the wall says, -3.1°F and a SOUTH wind.

Needless to say, twas a bit on the chilly side. Chilly hell, was just plain COLD!

Really felt sorry for the dog having the 'need' to go outside.

For those not use to this kinda cold, don't mess with it. Hat, gloves and a face mask are part of the uniform of the day.

I gotta get out of this place. Too cold & too windy. I think my trash cans blew like 6 miles away by now.

-1 with a w/c of -22. My wife is in extreme southeast Alabama and it's 15 degrees there.

I read somewhere that Pennsylvania is going to start to use beet juice for ice on the roads. What does that do to paint?

I had Colt out this morning and he kept trying to push his way in between my ankles to warm up. I could clearly see that my pleading with him "Go Poops Colt" wasn't going to work in this cold. I followed him around the house until I saw him trying to go to that place where he has his "Accidents" then scooped him up saying "Don't even try it Buck-O!!" out into the frozen tundra we went for a successful round two. "Good Boy Colt!!!!" "Good Boy!!!"

Good job Colt!

The poor old dog of ours is so house broken (which he learned on his own) he will only 'go' outside. Coat, booties and out he goes. Have to really watch him, he'll be sniffing around (as dog do) and just stop. The cold hits him and he just shuts down. Just stands there with the most pathetic and a just not understanding of what is happening look...scoop him up and back in we go.

Do cars have a special antifreeze or stronger batteries to deal with such temps? I would imagine Alaska does.

My car barely cranked over the last two days here in Chicago as temps reached a new record low.

My drive is mostly highway to work (22 miles highway) and my cars oil is under 150 degrees when it usually gets up to 200-220 on a regular drive.

I don't think so, but there are other measures. As an example, my Kia Spectra was originally an Alaska car, and on it the original owner evidently had some special heating pads installed. They were apparently glued onto the Transaxle the Oil Pan, and one Heating Pad even sits under the Battery in the Battery Tray. Just like a Block Heater, there's an AC Plug.

Probably in Canada, and Alaska, it might be more common to see places where one can plug in a vehicle.

My 1990 Dodge/Cummins came with a Block Heater, but that did little good when I lived, and owned that vehicle in Chicago. There was nowhere to plug into at work, or so I thought.

Went in one morning to work with that Truck, and it was -12 in Chicago. The Temps dropped all day. All I could do was go out in the lot every hour or so, and run the Diesel for 15 minutes.

At 2pm I was asked to work another 2nd shift on overtime. (Amtrak Rail Yard) At 2:30pm all the big bosses left for the day, I moved my Truck next to the car shop, plugged it in.
At 10:30pm the temps were -22, (with -64 wind chill) and when I left work, that truck fired up like it was July!

I did have a custom made grill shroud, but even still, the 5 mile trek into work that morning, that temp gauge never came off of "C", and the seats were as hard as concrete.

Most the people that were there that evening were not able to start their vehicles and go home.

Some type of protectant shroud that can be devised to be placed around a battery might help. Full Synthetic Oils also help. I used to run a semi-synthetic in the Cummins Diesel, and of course would dope the fuel further with anti-gel fluid.

4 degrees in Delaware this morning. So ready for Spring !!!! Im the MAN

For sure, "Eddie Bauer" (Goose Down) became my best friend when I lived I the windy city. 30 straight years working in an Amtrak Rail Yard was no picnic at times.

When such vicious weather conditions arose, out came my Bauer Kara Koram Expedition Parka. Good to -70 or -80 you felt nothing when you wore that Parka. I had the matching Bib Pants to go with. Sorels would commonly be on my feet.

The best part - every time I go in a store I still see some idiot wearing shorts.
