Hey Everyone

I need a bit of help... The wife bought me an Ipad for Xmas... After I told her I wanted the Makita rotary  . It was a great gift, but one I did not like. I already had a Itouch so the Ipad was, in my opinion, a bigger Itouch.

So I would now like to get the "NEW" FLEX rotary and the PC.

I currently have a Flex 3401 with 6.5 CCS 2 Orange, 2 white and 2 black pads.

I would like to run the 4" pads and the 5.5" pads for both the PC and the Flex Rotary?

My Budget is $600, is that possible and what brands and sizes (backing plates) should I be looking at, counter weights, adapters??

Another question (for the CDN users here) have you been hit with customs/brokeage, and are the shipping rates expensive?

OH, I forgot the wife bought me the Ipad using her sister's credit card, so I have to get her sister to buy me gift certificates, is there any limitation with the use of the certificates on Autogeek??

Thanks in Advance

Don

Decisions like this can be overwhelming so I do feel your pain.. So much money and so many great products to choose from.

It just so happens that Autogeek has an incredible offer for the new Flex Rotary Polisher. Many here, including yours truly, have stepped up to the plate and placed the order. The "kit" offered has some great products included for free.

FLEX PE14-2-150 Rotary Polisher, FLEX circular polisher, rotary buffer, circular buffer, FLEX PE14

Lake Country offers a wide variety of backing plates and pads that will accommodate the needs you've outlined above.

Lake Country Buffing Pads, Polishing buffing pads, buffing pads, polishing pads, ccs foam pads, ccs polishing pads

The Porter Cable 7424XP is available individually and in kit form.

This is a really nice backing plate for the new Flex Rotary, lots of cushion in the foam rubber between the hook-n-loop and the actual backing plate.

These 5.5" LC Flat foam pads are great general purpose foam pads and fit the above backing plate.

Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Foam Pads, buffing pads, Lake Country curved edge pads, polishing pads

If you're going to use any wool pads be sure to get a spur. If you're going to do a TON of buffing work, then look at a Pad Washer to clean your pads while you're buffing out a car or at the end of the day.

I bought some stuff around Christmas and wasn't charged any duty brokerage or taxes (yay!) -- shipping was around $25

Not sure if its the exception or the rule. I made a big order over the weekend and to
be safe I had it shipped to a friend in Boston who I'm going to go visit in April.

For shipping of a polisher you're looking at $20 bucks though no discounts (I think the agbucks2011 $20 coupon works for purchases over $150 though). And the $25 wishlist credit can be combined with any coupon since it is a credit...

I've heard of people shipping to a warehouse in Buffalo then picking your stuff up from there, they charge $6 per package and will store the stuff indefinitely until you come pick it up. Do a search for the exact name. I think UPS charges $10...

oops, just saw you are in BC... maybe there is an equivalent in Seattle?

Ok, here is my package up for inspection, thoughts, or comments.

Thanks Mike for the Suggestions (I do have a pads washer) System 2000
(new in the box still) they only thing about the system 2000 is that there is no way to remove excess water from the pads, am I correct?

Don

the new Flex rotary should be out soon, perhaps waiting a bit is a good idea. Just use the 3401 till then.

Hey Killer

Any reason to wait for the FLEX rotary?

The only thing with my Flex 3401 is that I cannot use any pads smaller than 6.5" and there is no way I want to try and mod a backing plate myself...
