I'm going to be ordering pads soon and I need advice on which ones will be best for me. Right now i'm looking at the LC orange, blue and gray pads. I was thinking just go with the edge pads because they don't require the backing but if I go that route i'm not sure which pads to get. I'm going to use these pads for light swirls for the most part but i've got some water marks that I need to get rid of also. My process is going to be xmt 2, xmt1, xmt glaze, sealant(not sure which brand yet) and Pinnacle Series II. Any advice on which pads i'm going to need would be great.

Personally I would just buy the Edge 2K kit instead of a couple pads seperatley, pads can add up bought by themselves.

You will need a pad for each step unless you are going to clean them in between steps. At this point I have all of the LC pads including the yellow and white. I have yet to use a 6" yellow (I also have the 4"'s).
I would suggest:
orange - xmt2
white - xmt1
grey - glaze (can also be used for polish or LSP)
blue (or by hand) - final sealant or wax

I have two of each, and except for the first OC compounding (x2 orange), have never used more than one for just my car. I use the orange and the grey the most. I usually wax/buff by hand.

This is going to be on a black car right? I'd take Max Wax over Sig Series. Just my opinion.

I have Lc pads they seem to work good for me

Yeah but I got the Sig Series for only 20 bucks when it was on sale, hence the reason why i'm going to try it.

Just put in my order. I hope I got everything. I just couldn't pass this offer up. 15% plus free shipping equals me being broke! hehehehe It's ok though. I hope I got everything right. Now all I need to do is wait for the weather to get better so that I can test out my products.

Looks good! Be careful with the yellow pad, you will want to add the orange one as it has a milder cut.
Welcome to the asylum

:iagree: The orange will be your most commonly used cutting pad. The yellow is very aggressive and should be used with caution.

You will love your shmitts I have both the yellow/white and the black one and they make washing vehicles alot easier. The black shmitt is especially nice because when you are washing your rims your hand hand won't get all beat up do to being inside the shmitt. Also wash my shmitts in the washing machine on gentle with woolite an cold water, come out looking like new. Mike...

I already have 3 orange, xmt 2, xmt glaze which came with the pc 7424 kit that I previously got for xmas. This stuff is just going to be additions to my pc 7424 kit. I think i've got it all. Now I need to get some skills and find customers. I only got the yellow just incase it's needed for those water spots that I have. That's going to be my last resort pad.

I too would consider the Edge pads ... comes with adapter. Otherwise you might need to consider a flexible backing plate also with all LC pads.

Killr, you've changed your thinking on this? I didn't think you were really for the Edge system. Cool...

I got a flexible backing plate also.

I like them both ... still fancy a good LC pad also. The two sided deal on the Edge system is a great offering.

I have the Makita rotary, and I know for sure AG has the Edge2000 7.5 and 8 inch pad kit for it. But I want to get 6.5 inch pads also. Does all the 6.5 work fine as long as I have the adapter. I ask since AG has the title posted as 6.5 inch DA pad. Thanks!

As I forget, the yellow CCS is not very hard, isn't it?
I touched it and I think it won't be very difficult to control via rotary.

Chu....you can use the 6.5 pads on the rotary...just get the adapter for rotary..the pads will fit ...I find the 6.5 pads work great on a rotary..you get better control..less buffer hop...easy to keep flat so less holograms..and can get in spaces better...

it is all user preference..but to me the 6.5 pads work best for me..

Well I got my new backing plate today and it works fine now. The first one had no thread at all like the one I got today. The one I got today was in a bag and also shrink wrapped, unlike the first one that was in a bag but not shrink wrapped. Thanks Meghan!
