So I know some backing plates don't work well with some pads. For example the hook and loop on the new meguiars pads doesn't work well with other backing plates because it has a different loop.

What I want to know is if the Buff and Shine 4" pads will be good with the Lake Country 3.5" backing plate.

Thanks
Connor

I haven't noticed a problem yet with that combo.

Hook and loop pads work on any Hook and Loop backing plate. What is the issue?

Buff & Shine and Lake Country are probably interchangeable though. I haven't had any issues.

For the record... I also cover the different variety of hooks and loops in my how-to book.

I know somewhere on this forum I've also shared the story about how a backing plate manufacturer SWITCHED the HOOK style they used on their backing plates for a backing plate they manufactured for a company and never told the company.

The pads the company sold literally would fall off the backing plate. As in, take a brand new backing plate and a brand new pad and attach the pad to the backing plate and watch the pad fall to the floor.

Kid you not....

So "yes" it is important to use hook material that matches the loop material.

Sometimes I forget just how much information I cover in my how-to books but for what it's worth, they are like my posts, in-depth and complete. Never simple one-liners.
