At what point is the pad (lake country) worn out and need replacement. If I am getting excessive dusting what is the cause and fix.I have been waxing car for 15 years but am new to paint correction and buffers so any help would be appreciated.

chances are the velcro backing will separate from the foam before the face wears out. What machine and what products are you using that are dusting? Some products are just dusting type of products. Maybe you are polishing past the point at which the polish dries out. Are you working in the direct sun or in the shade? there are a lot of reasons that you may be getting dusting.

Im working in the shade of the garage.Im using Flex 3401 buffer with Lake Country (yellow) pads for paint correction.Product is Wolfgang total swirl remover. If the face of the pad is worn is it worn out??Thanks.

Just had my first velcro/pad separation tonight. I was in the middle of using it. Just flew off. First time using the pad though, so it wasn't because of wear. Luckily it was on a headlight and not the paint because there was a second of contact with the headlight without the pad. If it was the paint...

Not something I am looking forward to ever experiencing again.

How many times have you used the pads? Do you wash them between each use?

Pads have been used for approx. four cars.Yes they are washed before the next use. What is your prefered meathod of washing pads?

I wash mine with Dawn power disolver and a toothbrush in hot water. I wet the pad then spray with Dawn let it sit there for a min or two then brush it as its under running water. After all the product is out of the pad I rinse the pad out thoroughly.
I have seen some dusting at times with my first section from some pads when they are "fresh" but that goes away after the first section.
